Product Overview

The Modern Avalon House Number Collection will make your home stand-out with style. Since they can be mounted aware from the wall, they appear to float independently and cast shadows upon the surface to which they are affixed. The ethereal illusion is made complete by the absence of visible screws. Modern Avalon is a classic addition to your front door and works equally well on mid-century and ultra modern home styles. No Visible Screws Exposed.

Answer:
You mount these numbers by drilling holes (approx 1/8", but can't remember what bit I ended up using), then simply push the numbers into the holes. There are two sets of mounting pins: Short for flush mounting, and longer (with a nice 1/2 shim) for a "floating" look. You mount these numbers by drilling holes (approx 1/8", but can't remember what bit I ended up using), then simply push the numbers into the holes. There are two sets of mounting pins: Short for flush mounting, and longer (with a nice 1/2 shim) for a "floating" look. Depending on the material you are mounting to, you may or may not have to use silicone as a mounting "glue" to keep them in place. The mounting kit also comes with grey plastic wall mounting anchors, but this means you have to drill a larger hole (appox 1/4"), and I prefer the cleaner look of the pins seamlessly disappearing into the mounting surface.
**Since there are no templates provided, the trickiest part of mounting these is lining up the pins for drilling. Since I mounted mine to a redwood mailbox (see attached photo), I was able to use the short pins for marking purposes only, line up the number on the wood, then lightly tap the number (protecting it with a scrap piece of wood) to make indents in the wood. The indents are your markers for drilling. I ended up using the long mounting pins (with shims) for that floating look.
I hope this helps! Read Less

Are the digits identical, or does/would mounting placement make a difference?

The 6 is currently in stock, but the 9 is not showing to be.

Answer:
The 6 and the 9 are actually exactly the same, but are simply packaged appropriately. Regarding the height, they are the same as the other numbers PROVIDED the orientation (alignment) is correct when you mount them.

Answer:
I purchased a 6 to represent a 9. Address numbers are not yet installed but should work. Amazon sells them as well. Some reviewers noted that the 6/9 was a bit taller than the other numbers

Rated 2.0 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great design, easy to install Since you can get a very similar (Hillman Group) modern numbers for $5.99, I thought that these Avalon numbers would be solid metal. They are actually hollow (cast), but they do look great when they are mounted. Overall, they are nice looking and the mounting hardware is great. March 8, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Design The numbers are extremely diffcult to align. The holes to mount them are not consistent. It took way too much effort and measuring for such a simple task. September 20, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor design The holes in back make it hard to align. Poor design September 20, 2016
