Pitted tub

My old bathtub is quite pitted. Will this product fill in the "pits"?
Asked by: Bates
The product is thick, but it would probably not completely fill pits. It should cover them nicely however.

The formica is pitted what should i do to prep the walls
Asked by: Natasha
Yes, Bathworks DIY Bathtub refinishing kit works amazing on shower units. Prepping fiberglass fixtures requires sanding(sandpaper included in kits). Bathworks offers a chip repair kit and both kits come with step by step instructions. Absolutely! In a couple hours, it will look brand new and last for many years. We recommend two kits for your project.

Customer Reviews

20 oz. DIY Bathtub and Tile Refinishing Kit- White is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good It's been about 3 weeks and it looks good. I used this product only on the tub, not the walls. I let the paint cure for 4 days before using the tub. It definitely covered the tub well. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the foam roller that comes in the kit started to fall apart during application. This led to a lot of little hard rough spots on the finish. If I ever used again I would definitely try a higher quality roller or maybe even spraying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Read reviews and follow directions Prepare surface per directions. Gives a nice shiny white finish. We rolled it on and it smoothed out pretty well. There is some orange peel in the finish but no more than on most new tub finishes. The smell lingers A LONG TIME. It takes longer to cure than it says. Be careful to apply thin coats. If too thick it will run. Spoken from experience! Had to sand it down and buy a second bottle to put one more coat on. I really think if the coats were thinner it would not have been a problem. FYI we were changing a blue tub to white and it looks great. Can't say how well it will hold up but we rarely use this tub so wear will be minimal. I would use this again

Work fast because the longer it takes you, the goopier the product gets and it's hard to not get runs. I used this to refinish the tub in a rental unit. It's not as perfect as a professional job (and not as costly!!!!!), but I'd use it again on another rental unit.....absolutely!

Wear a respirator, follow the instructions to a tee, take your time with prep it is by far the most important part of the job. Can't vouch for the longevity of the product it's only been on for a month so time will tell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use, looks great I must admit I was hesitant to do this project myself rather than " Farm it out", but in hindsight I am so very glad that I did. I saved a ton of money and my Bathtub turned out great! Just remember to PREPARE your Bathtub surface according to directions and allow at least 24 hours minimum for this Bathworks product to cure and you should have fantastic results!!! This product has the hardener or "catalyst" that assures a hard finished surface as opposed to spray on paint products. This product is far superior to spray on products. My only regret is that I didn't take any "Before" photos to show how well the Bathworks product worked!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Difficult to use First the good: the finish is incredibly tough and glossy, bright white and looks like it will last for a long time. Then the bad: it's a very hard product to apply, I created what looked like a smooth and even coating - following the instructions to the letter - but after and hour or so it had begun to sag and run. At this point the product has begun to cure so there's no correcting any issues. I'm going to have to sand it back and give and automotive spray paint top coat.

I was concerned that the etching cleanser and sandpaper was not enough to bond the paint to the surface, but it worked! Only complaint is that it wasn't as even as I had hoped. Paint does run a bit even when spread out.
