The manual recommends initially charging fully, at least nine hours - then running the charge all the way down. Then you can keep it on charge.

IT SEEMS TO SHUT OFF AUTOMATICALLY WHEN IT IS FULLY CHARGED! THIS IS DEFINATELY ONE OF THE BEST CORDLESS HAND VAC'S THAT I HAVE EVER BOUGHT. TONS OF POWER THAT LASTS A LONG TIME WHEN YOUR USING IT. ALSO YOU DO HAVE THE OPTION OF THE TWO POWERS WITH THE SWITCH AT TOP.. I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU. IF YOU DIDN'T LEAVE IT CHARGING, YOUR ON YOUR OWN! THE POWER AFTER OVER A YEAR IS EXACTLY THE SAME NOW, AS IT WAS WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT.. THIS HAS GREAT SUCTION ! I ALSO EMPTY AND CLEAN THE FILTER ALMOST AFTER EVERY USE THAT TAKES JUST MINUTES.. THE CLEANER IT IS, THE LESS BATTERY POWER IT'S GOING TO TAKE TO GET THE JOB DONE! Read Less

You may, but it isn't necessary. I have been using my Vac for over a year and I frequently leave it charging between uses.

Answer:
Yes, if you would like. The battery should initially be allowed to charge for a minimum of 24 hours. The battery should then be allowed to fully discharge before being charged again. After that the hand vac can be left on the charger because the charger will not overcharge the batteries.

Answer:
There is a forward extension for better reach, It retracts when not in use.
You could also consider the rotating 'business end' a "tool" because it allows you to hold the vacuum in the normal fashion and orient the action upwards and to the right and left.
There's nothing to misplace. All facilities are on-board.

Answer:
Well everything is apart of it, so you don't have to worry about losing any pieces. It comes with a power cord and a wall hanging attachment. The vacuum itself has an extending piece that slides out to help reach those hard to reach spots, like between seats in a car. It also has a fold down brush to help loosen items you want to suck up. That's about it.

Answer:
None. The only extra tool is the extension wand on the end of the nozzle but mine will not stay extended. It does not hurt the performance of the sweeper. The company may have improved the wand by now because mine is 2 years old.

Answer:
THERE IS NO WAY YOU SHOULD BE NEEDING A NEW BATTERY ALREADY! IT MUST BE THE CHARGER! MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE IT HOOKED UP CORRECTLY TO THE CHARGING UNIT SO THAT IT HANGS ON IT. THIS VAC IS NOT DESIGNED TO LAY FLAT FOR CHARGING! IF IT STILL DOESN'T CHARGE IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION, CONTACT B&D. IF INDEED THE BATTERY IS SHOT, THEN LET ME KNOW FROM THERE!!

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 48 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Good vacuum, bad nonreplaceable battery Worked great on hard surfaces, just OK on carpets, unimpressive for use in the car. After two months the run time on a charge had dropped to less than a minute, and after six months the battery doesn't hold enough charge to run the vacuum at all. Black & Decker doesn't sell a replacement battery. Based on other reviews, it is possible to get a good battery that will last a year or more, but NiCd batteries have a history of such problems. If you want a product like this, look for something with a Nickel-Metal Hydride or Lithium Ion battery. DON'T BUY this product unless you enjoy gambling and don't mind losing. June 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good dustbuster. Easy to empty dirt cup. Powerful suction. Very good overall. July 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hand Vac packed with power This little hand vac is powerful, portable and practical. When my 15 (yes) 15 year old hand vac died, I went looking for a new one. I have loved all of the SHARK products so I decided to buy a SHARK hand vac and get one that was twice the volt power as the last one. I quickly realized what a difference the increase in volt power made. I couldn't be happier. This Shark 15.6 volt cordless vac is awesome. Highly recommend. August 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by cordless vac great vacuum easy to clean out and the plastic hanger you attach to the wall is, just hang it and chargeit, plus you always know where to find it C R S July 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Top performer Ready to go out of the box. Works great. Extension feature is handy. July 5, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Would hold a charge I bought one and it lasted about 6 months , and then I noticed it would not fully charge and would only last about 3 minutes for vacuuming. So I figured I got a lemon and replaced it., and now it is happening again. DO NOT BUY. June 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very good purchase My wife and I are very pleased with this product. It is a lot better than our old Dustbuster, no doubt because of the higher voltage. It picks up dirt much better than our old one. September 15, 2015
