I purchased this product for one use only. To assist on refinishing a pine floor in a ~120 year old house. After getting past the minor glitches, the tracking adjustment (had to adjust several times but finally it stayed until the nest sandpaper replacement)and a not so tight front spindle screw, it took off. When moving large hot water rads is not an option it trimmmed under and around them just fine due to the unique front end. For getting at thos hard places you don't want to do by hand this is a very viable alternative. Not as fast as it could be but then again is is not a tool for every day hard use.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Not the Best Tool in the Box
I bought the B&D Dragster Belt Sander with the idea, that maybe I don't have to spend a lot of money on a tool I may not use much. Also, the sleek low profile nose caught my attention. I thought it would be able to get into areas the more hefty models couldn't.
In this case it was wrong thinking. The sander is under powered and the belt tracking goes off so you often have to stop to adjust the tracking. I can't say this sander is not for anyone. Just not for someone that wants to do some serious work. I think Arnold would have called this - a Girly Man's Tool.

I'm suprised to see anyone gave this any stars above 1.
this is a horrible product. Tracking is ridiculous, handle is sub par.... basically a child can make a better product.
don't shave for a day and drag your face all over the wood you want to sand... it'll do a better job then this sander, and takes less effort.

I love it!.
Once you alighn the belt it is a joy to use.I used it to fit a stubborn door and it worked a wonder for me.The belt did not lose it,s tracking throughout the job.I am now using it to sand a forty year old hardwood staircase and I am having no difficulty.

The belt remover bracket is plastic. After running it for a while, the plastic became soft and broke when I needed to change the belt. Also don't apply pressure, the belt slips easily.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Angelluciano GREAT belt sander
I really can't complain about this belt sander. I used it for something that it really should NOT have been able to do and it worked GREAT... I used it to sand 70 yr. old hardwood floors. It took 3 days and a boat load of dust (albeit the sander actually collected most of it in the bag... you just have to empty the bag every 25 sq. ft. or so), but my floor looks GREAT. I haven't put my 2 coats of poly on there yet, but WOW. I'm uploading a before and after photo for those who want to see. The before photo was taken 2 years ago with a different camera but you should still be able to get the jest of the improvement. It's PHENOMINAL! Took away 70 years worth of caked on brown grime, filth, & stains. BTW, I returned the Ryobi 6 amp yellow sander (3 x 18 inch) to get this one. It didn't work any where NEAR as well, surprisingly...

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by grihn Good sander at a great price
I have found this to be an excellent product for the price. Is it the best belt sander in the world? No...but then again, it's also $60, no $200+. I bought this primarily to speed up a project of building a solid workbench top from 2x4's, and it did exactly what I needed it to do....smooth out the top of the bench quickly. The most common complaint seems to be with the tracking...yes, it could be better, but it's not as bad as people are making it out to be...before you start using it, spend 30 seconds adjusting the tracking and you're set...once adjusted I didn't touch the tracking for the whole time I was using it (about 2hrs). I also have found the speed and 7amp motor more than sufficient for anything I'm going to use it for. Really, my only complaints are minor for a sander in this price range. One is the abundant use of plastic. There are some areas, such as the belt tension adjustment lever, that are plastic when I feel they should be steel. I can see this breaking if used heavily and the user isn't extra careful. My other complaint is the dust collection system. It's a complete joke...my workbench was covered in sawdust mere seconds after I started sanding. To be honest, I didn't really expect it not to be, and it didn't make the sander any less effective, but to advertise "dust collection bag helps keep your work area sawdust free" is completely false. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase. If you need a belt sander for everyday use, spring for a higher-end sander...but, if like me you have the occasional home project that calls for one, this should get you by, and for $60, you can't really go wrong.

This sander has a powerful motor, more powerful than most in it's class. When I compared to all the others for sale, this had a much higher amp motor than the rest for much cheaper. With tools like this, the motor is paramount. It performed well. The ONLY gripe that I had about it was the paper tracking on the bottom. It took some getting used to, adjusting the knobs correctly to make sure the paper tracks is crucial with something like this. Once you fiddle with it you can figure it out. But it only takes SMALL adjustments.
