Yes, this blade can be adjusted and digs a good trench. I used it to trench in my fountain wires and cords. Works great.

Answer:
The machine has a guide wheel that runs along the curb or sidewalk therefore, I do not think it will work for your purpose unless you have a firm curb beside the area you are trenching. You might be able to rent an edger to try it out and see, which would save you from a large purchase.

Answer:
That's how I put in an invisable fence. Scalp the route down to bare soil with your weed eater, then take the edge hog with a new blade t max depth. Should get you about an inch & a half, but still below the grass roots. So it will stay there.

Answer:
No, the blade is straight. I have walks and this machine does an excellent job at making straight cuts. If you however wish to find a machine that does carved and curved cuttings, you will have to upgrade to a professional machine. It has a regular cut and a trench cut, but these are not the carved cuts of professional landscape machines.

You need a utility cord approved for outdoor use. You can pick one up at any dept store. I never exceed 100 ft. Do you think you'd be safe with 2, 100 ft cords? If you can do it try, but I recommend having complete control of your power cord and to be able to see it clearly at all times. Have someone watch the cord while you experiment.

Answer:
I use a 100ft length of a standard utility cord approved for outdoor use. Beyond this I am uncertain about length limits. However, if you are cutting a vast area and several hundred feet away from an electric source I would suggest purchasing a professional quality gas powered trimmer. This would much safer.

Answer:
You can use an outdoor 14-2 100 foot heavy duty extension cord. They are rated at around 12 amps. Anything longer then that your going to build up heat in the cord. Especially if you live where it's real hot to begin with. Home Depot has a real nice one made by Ridgit for around $50 which should last you a life time if taken care of.

Can I also use this edger as a trimmer, or do I have to buy a trimmer and an edger? I have the Worx trimmer/edger right now.

Basically, this trimmer busts through sod overhanging walks and drives. It does not trim weeds like a weed wacker or string trimmer. It will also bust through sod edge of potential flower beds you wish to plant. But this is not an all purpose weed trimmer.

Answer:
Its not a trimmer, its an edger that creates an edge by removing a small channel of dirt and grass roots.
To trim up as the edge of the actual grass begins to grow in, you still need a trimmer.
This edger give a much cleaner and longer lasting edge than edging with a trimmer.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by This edger is a back saver for me. I'm a 66 year old female who love to do the gardening. I had a manual edger before. This Edge Hog was easy to put together and does a great job. I also used it to trench in the electrical for my fountain in the back yard. Works great. I highly recommend this product for it's ease and function. October 25, 2016

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Deal The Edge Hog is a pretty good deal and works pretty good for an electric edger. It can cut through some pretty tough grass and easy to guide along the driveway and walkways. Just be careful with your extension cord and keep in mind where it is, at all times. Just a caution, so you will be safe. After using gas edger's you may tend to forget about electric cords. Otherwise this edger works great and I would recommend this to everyone. September 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Edger Very easy to assemble. Worked great right out of the box. Powerful engine in a compact and lightweight design. September 20, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Always Dependable! I had one of these in the past and no longer needed it (rock landscaping in NV). Moved to midwest and it's one of the first things I bought for my large lawn. If you like groomed lawn edges, this does the job well! I like to edge deep and this allows you to select how short or deep you want. September 20, 2016
