Answer:
According to the manufacturer, the BRK Model No, 9120B is a suitable replacement for the BRK 4120B which has been discontinued. The connectors are the same, but you will have to replace the outer case ring for a better fit. I am on my way to Home Depot to see if they carry it in stock. It is available for on line purchase.

Answer:
I recently had to replace a 4120B through a warranty activity with BRK Electronics. They replaced it with a 9120B. It was completely plug compatible. You just need to use to new mounting assembly. I took less than 5 minutes to replace. Getting the ladder ready (I have very high ceilings) took most of the time.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 100 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Dim LED's and Loose Battery Compartment The green power LED is extreamy dim. I was installing this on a sunny day and could not see that the green power LED was indeed on indicating proper connection. The battery compartment latch is poorly designed and hangs out unless the latch lock is installed. the directions indicated the latch lock as an option in a houshold but you clealy need to use it to get the compartment securly closed . The directions DO NOT indicate the positive + and negative - terminals in the battery compartment so if you remove the battery and do not note it's orientation you will need to use a flashlight and magnifying glass in order to see the + and - indicators DEEP within the battery compartment. The directions are overly complex and don't clearly indicate where the power LED vs the alarm LED are located. Why is 2016 are these things still so poorly constructed and designed? August 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Alarm These were replacement smoke alarms. The previous product was no longer manufactured. To install this alarm the bracket had to be replaced but it was simple and the existing electrical connections matched the replacement alarm and plugged in with no modification April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Smoke Alarm The product was exactly what I expected. Moreover I was treated with respect by Justin , an ASM . He greeted me, respectfully asking the purpose of my visit to his "HOME DEPOT" . Justin assumed ownership and I believe would have found a solution for anything I presented. Actually he was not disappointed when I told him that was there to pick-up an on line order. He escorted me to the cashier area and from a short distance observed the transaction. I my opinion, not that you care, this young man should have long a career with THE HOME DEPOT in either merchandising or training. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So Far So Good Used free shipping to our local Home Depot; the pickup process worked great. This was a replacement smoke alarm, so installation was a snap...the alarm includes a 9-volt backup battery. Tested the alarm after installation and it has given us no problems (e.g., false alarms, etc.) for a couple of months. August 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by VERY sensitive, but I suppose that's good.... These alarms work very well in tandem with one another. When one goes off, all of the others do very quickly. However, they are highly sensitive to ANY smoke. The one in our kitchen will go off if we just TOAST something a bit long in the toaster...annoying...as we now seem to set them off daily. But you can turn them off quickly. I suppose the upside is that I do not think we would ever miss a REAL fire! July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice to be able to replace what we had in our home and the purchasing experience was a breeze! Our house is ten years old and one smoke alarm went out so we wanted to replace them all couldn't find them in the stores ordered on line and all is well again for ten years! August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Replacement Easy to replace. Stopped the system beeping in the middle of the night. If you have that problem, find the one that lights up red when they activate. That is the bad one that needs to be replaced. Found that information in the original instructions. July 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by hardwired interconnected smoke alarm with battery backup easy to install and, and testing was easy, a good product. July 19, 2016
