This battery is made to work with sump pump back up system.
My only issue, and it would probably be the same for any battery of this type is the requirement to add water periodically to the battery cells. The last time I filled the cells with water, the cells were nearly dry so the probe that is to remind you with a beep to add water was not functioning. The lack of water may have shortened the battery life some, but I got 5 years out of the last one which was the same brand.

Never had a problem. They last about five years. Keep them serviced and charged they work as stated.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by David Lasted 5 years - never did anything
I know a number of views were negative on the battery. I kept my off the ground and never did anything (never added water, etc..) and it lasted 5 years. Not sure what to say, except I am going to buy another one, and hope it lasts another 5 years. Overall, I would highly recommend this product and overall system. Easy to install overall, and protects both on power outage and issues if your main subpump fails.

The new replacement battery is a good value and was easy to install. Just wished the acid was easy to install to activate the battery.

This was a direct replacement for our aging battery. Good to know we will have backup power .

I purchased the Basement Watchdog 1/2 HP Big Combination Unit with Backup Battery Sump Pump. Of the batteries compatible with this unit, this was the largest. Frankly, it made no sense to me to spend nearly $400 on the AC/DC combination pump, then skimp on battery size.

Battery is a wet battery. You have to add your own sulfuric acid. While this isn't a HUGE inconvenience, it's 2016. Why do we even bother with wet batteries anymore?
As much as I would like to switch over to a maintenance-free gel battery, my Watchdog Special supposedly doesn't support the maintenance-free battery. I need to have the Watchdog Special +. I'm guessing it has something to do with the voltage regulator, which brings me up to next point.
There is a water level sensor in the battery kit. Too bad it's not failsafe. My original battery basically cooked with no audible low water warning. After refilling with distilled water, the battery came back to life for about five months, then required a new one.
Lesson learned: don't rely on the low water battery sensor. Assume it doesn't work. Check water level every three months because from what I'm reading about this watchdog sump system is that the charging circuit cooks the battery.
So, $130 for a new battery and $20 for acid = $150/4 years or about $37.50/year for backup battery power. In those four years, battery was never needed once.
I wish there was a way that Watchdog would let you upgrade the circuit panel for the Watchdog Special + so I could use their maintenance free battery.

This battery lasted about 3 years connected to a back up sump pump. Since it only powers the backup when water gets higher than the primary sump pump, it didn't get much use. Of course, any use at all saved my basement from being flooded. However, not only did it only last 3 years, I used 3 gallons of distilled water over this time. I am looking for a maintenance free Marine Battery for sump pump backup power.
