Answer:
I used a hammer drill for my job, slow and steady to make a pilot hole, with a standard masonry bit. These types of holes require A LOT of water to keep the drill bit from burning.
Once I had the pilot hole in, this bit was run with a regular drill, and A LOT of water. The result was 4 beautifully clean holes in a VERY hard ceramic tile.
Take things SLOW, be patient, this will work.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. The Bosch Glass and Tile drill bits are designed to be used with a standard drill. The bits need to be ran at a low rpm otherwise the glass or tile being drilled can break. Here are the recommended RPM’s based on bit size:
1/8" 1000 rpm
3/16" 750 rpm
1/4" 500 rpm
5/16" 400 rpm
3/8” – 350 rpm
½” – 250 rpm

Answer:
Hello frank,
When using a tile bit you're going to want to use a regular drill. The action of a hammer drill will most likely shatter any tile or glass you were attempting to drill through. I hope this is helpful.
Cheers,
Chris

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by sweet bit!! Needed four holes in a tiled shower for a curved curtain rod calling for a 1/4" bit. Picked this bad boy up, marked my holes, and had all four holes drilled out in less than a minute. It was AWESOME. Made the job quick and easy. It does walk a tiny tiny bit so just take the start a little slow. It does make a mess so put some plastic down for a quick clean up. I used a trashbag and that worked for me. Seriously... This bit is the real deal. Super clean holes too. December 11, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Get a diamond bit Got about one third the way through the first hole in the shower tile to hang the shower rod. The bit just polished the bottom of the hole - no more cutting. Useless. I bought a diamond bit to finish the job. August 2, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Adequate I had 12 holes to drill to install 2 ADA grab bars in a shower that we remodeled for a disabled veteran. I went through 3 bits before I was done. They did drill a very nice hole and the tile did not crack. June 21, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Clean holes, but it doesn't last Maybe it was my tile, but I expected this to at least work for a couple of uses. I was able to make 2 holes and then I had to buy another one which only made one hole. So had to get a third one. It was a bit fustrsting as I asked an associate if they offered something different and they said this was the only product they sell to do this kind of task May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Slow & Steady I ran this bit a lot faster than recommended, with lots of water, on a brand new tile that was harder than masonry or brick. It took a while, but made it through four holes for a towel bar. I used a masonry drill to make a pilot hole before putting this gem to work! May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Almost as good as "Chicken 'N Dumplins" Long story short. Needed grab bar for tile shower. Ordered 32" Moen bar from HD. (Great Buy). Used a combination of magnetic and Zircon stud finder plus a plumb bob for exact location of stud sides. Had painters tape on tile wall for hole markings. Used this bit (At very slow speed With Water sprayed on it to cool it). For less than 9 bucks, this bit drilled 6 holes flawlessly with NO WALKING! Yup, this bit is the way to go. I would Highly Recommend it. (I got my Chicken 'N Dumplins" when finished). And I guarantee this grab bar is there to stay!! If you use this bit, you will never regret it. Just go slow and cool it with water spray. February 13, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Glass and tile bit I can only drill one tile hole with this drill bit March 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked great This bit worked perfectly on my project. I am thoroughly satisfied with the results. February 10, 2016
