I bought this table as a new woodworker based on Bosch's reputation. The only real complaint for me is the 3 Mounting Plate Insert Rings. They are weak and eventually start to dip/sag when inserted causing the effects of that to be transferred to your wood as you move it across the top. Looking for a different table with a smooth level surface now. I didn't experience the other tightening problems as in other reviews. That all still works fine for me after three years. Some black marks on my wood from sliding across the aluminum mounting plate though. I have a Bosch router, so I was able to adjust it through the top, but I did have to wiggle the router from below when doing so to get it to move freely once it gets sticky from dust build up. It was a good starter table.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Chuck This product has great quality but is not as adaptable to other routers than Bosch.
The table itself it great, but I am disappointed with its ability to handle a different brand router. The locations for my router mounted it to left of center, making it difficult to use larger bits. I had to redrill the mounting plate to make it fit my machine, even though it was listed specifically by model number. I am disappointed. Once retro-fitted, it works great. Just like I thought, but a lot of re-engineering to get there.

I've got a Dewalt router, and it fit perfectly. Easy to assemble; great table for the money.

after very few hours of use the mounting plate leveling screws stripped out. The fence moves as you are routing. And when I got the fence tight enough, those bolts stripped also. And the cabinet fills with saw dust even with dust collection in place. So now my table top is uneven and I have to use wood clamps to hold the fence and I cant put anything in the cabinet. I love my Bosch router but this table stinks

An excellent router table for the price point. I looked at all the major bench top router tables, Benchdog, Kreg, Bosch RA1181, before selecting this one, and I'm happy with my choice. It's built sturdy and is flat and square. I liked that this RT was a cabinet style with an external 2 plug on/off switch. The fence is surprisingly sturdy and straight. I was a little disappointed in the router plate, it's nice that it's Al, but it's cast Al, which makes it feel a little cheaper, but it's sturdy and can't complain for the price. If you have the time/money/space, I'd recommend getting a full size router table top and building a table under it, but this little table is perfect for my needs for now.

Split fence is a problem had to shim to get them even. Router plate too low and cast as others stated. I used some washers to even the plate to the table. I did use some silicon spray and wiped it dry to help the material slide across the table. Over all I was able to complete my project but will probably build on in the future with better materials. I use a Bosch router and had no issues getting it set up.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Brian Perfect combination of small size and sturdy construction
I have to keep all my tools in my relatively small basement, so i knew i didn't have room for a full-size router table like I would otherwise have chosen. I already owned a Bosch router (1617EVS), so that was the biggest factor in choosing this model. I actually was trying to decide between the RA1181 and RA1171 models, and although i found many reviews online for the separate models, i had to search for a long time to find a comparison review. I was told that both were good but the RA1171 has better dust collection due to the cabinet, and provided a convenient storage location for some of the smaller tools and pieces. My only disappointment was with the shipment- when it arrived from Homedepot.com, one end of the box had an enormous mass of tape holding it together, and it looked as though the entire end had been doused with water. I thought about returning it but I wanted to work on a project the next weekend and after opening the box I felt the product itself was in good shape. Assembly was pretty easy, and I imagine anyone ordering a product like this is pretty handy so they shouldn't have any issues. I was happy with the operation as well and have used the table for a couple different projects. I think if you need a smaller table, want sturdy construction, and have a few more $ to spend (compared to the lower-grade aluminum craftsman models), this is a good purchase. I don't use my router too often, but I might still look into buying the separate base so i can switch to hand-held use more quickly and avoid all of the readjustments each time.
