How to remove stuck cartridge

My old calcified cartridge is stuck and I can't remove it. Are there any techniques to remove a stubborn cartridge? Is ther a stem remover tool that will work on this model?
Asked by: Rowland
And PB Blaster helps, too. Saturate the few threads you can see at he top of the cartridge and wait ten minutes or so (they longer the better).

Removing the stem

How do I remove the stem once installed. The stem where screw A is supposed to go is broke - I will need to replace. Is the piece replaceable
Asked by: Anonymous
I purchased the stem remover and the instructions made it a quick and easy job. I didn't have to quess what I was doing. You will need to replace the entire stem if the portion where the screw is located is broken. Be sure to remove the clip that holds the stem before trying to pull it out. Otherwise it will be impossible to remove without damaging the entire fixture.

cartridge hot and cold very hard to turn

Asked by: Bernie
If you can turn on the water with some what ease but turning the handle to hot or cold with difficulty YES replace the cartridge. With the correct cartridge installed you can turn the knob with just a finger. Mixet was widely used in older homes I do this on a regular basis, when dealing with seniors, changing out the sticky old cartridge with a new one and its night and day difference. I can’t link my video on Youtube that shows this install. From start to finish it will take you no more than 30 minutes taking your time. Just search for How to install Mixet cartridge MXT07 and you should find many on the install. All you need are a few basic tools. Adjustable wrench, pliers or vise grips, Philips screw driver, some plumber’s grease. You too can do this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Had to have Original valve stem died, so I had to replace. Instructions ARE included, cardboard insert, you must unfold to find bilingual directions. No tool needed to remove old stem, unscrew retainer & turn water back on, briefly, pops right out. I felt the need to give it a 5 rating since a couple of reviews were so harsh on product. Straight forward installation, it came with a couple of extra washers that the old one didn't have, so I wasn't real sure if I should use them. I did, no problem. Wasn't sure how 2 grade on quality since it's all of 1 day old.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to install This is the first time that I have ever needed to replace the cartridge on my shower so I didn't know what to expect. However I didn't have any issues with the instructions or the installation and can now turn off the shower easily with no drips from the showerhead. Quick and inexpensive fix that I should have done a year ago.
