A nice entry level chipper/shredder. Sets up in about half an hour. The 2 1'2 inlet for branches is a bit small . One needs to cut them up first as most have crooks in them that exceed that limit.. I bought it primarily to shred leaves for my compost pile. I point the discharge chute into a landscape barrel which works good for me. Without the barrel it blows the shredded leaves all over the place. Especially if there is a wind.
The leaf hopper takes small sticks and loose vegetation . The key here is to have them small enough so they don't jamb up the hopper.
The only downside that I could see is that it is hard to pull start. This is due to the blades being connected to a heavy flywheel. If you are strong enough though it usually starts on one pull. For this reason I wouldn't recommend this product for most retired folks.

this unit was easy to assemble, starts very easy, only used once, really like the way it works, can be overloaded if material is not put in at a even rate. takes about 45 min to set up fill with oil and fuel. all parts and wrenches included, execpt for oil. this unit should work well for home owner with light to medium demand. not a heavy duty unit
be sure to sta-bil the fuel if not used every month.

Read the reviews about assembly & filling of oil, took my time all went well. Was sorry when I ran out of branch's to feed it. Have to cut down some more dead tree's!

The instructions stressed the importance of putting oil in the machine before using but did not show where to put the oil in. It took me a while to find the unmarked oil plug hidden under the wood chute. Also suggest clear and safe instructions in the manual for clearing jams in the wood chute starting with unplugging the spark plug and unbolting the chute to clear it. I would only recommend this product to people I know are mechanically inclined.

This does a great job reducing leaves and brush to mulch. No directions to find the oil fill port - and it is sort of hidden. Takes a man's strength to start the engine - but not many pulls. Runs smooth. Putting leaves into the feed bin takes longer than you might hope because of the shielding against kick-back off the cutting blades - but its for your protection.
Please note: instructions tell you NOT to cut green, non-woody stemmed plants (like tomato vines). Despite this, I cut up green brussels sprouts and found that the resulting wet material adhered to the top of the output shoot. I probably need to inspect the entire insides for adhered gunk - be forewarned!
My primary problem with the device is that the velocity of the mulched material exiting the output shoot is so great that it is impossible to contain that material in a garbage can or bag. So, I must wheel the device to where I want the mulch, bring the material to it, blast the mulch onto the ground and then spread it around. Not so terrible a problem at my scale - but at yours?
In summary, for what I paid, I feel that I am getting a very solid, well-made, effective solution that will serve me for years to come.

The assembly took a little longer than advertised, but was relatively easy. The engine started easily, and branches fed in easily.

This chipper took everything I threw at it for four straight days - and I really pushed it. Starts easy enough, doesn't burn through gas, and never got clogged unless I got hasty. Take your time, and you'll have no problems - even with damp leaves and branches. The only reason I didn't give it a total 5 was the lack of towing ability with my tractor, but I knew that going in. Other than that, perfect for medium use. Chewed through six foot branches at max diameter in about 4 seconds.

Last summer after a terrible storm, I had a number of tree limbs and brush to clear. After speaking with several local companies I realized that I could by my own chipper/shredder and put my money to use.
This was a great decision as the unit was easy to assemble and within a week all the brush had been cleared.
It does take some effort to get the unit started, but once it is running had no problems at all.
