We are putting a different top on the base than what is shown and would like to know if the top is attached to the base or a separate piece.

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Purchase The firepit is perfect for our backyard. It is built extremely well and was easy to install. We have had many great nights and early morning coffee around the new firepit. It arrived packaged extremely well and we have had many compliments. We love it! May 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very Disappointing The fire pit was beautiful and appeared to be very well made, but suffers from a deal-breaking design flaw: There's no place to put a propane tank. It is certainly not clear from the information on either Home Depot's or the manufacturer's (Cal Flame) web sites, that the propane tank must sit outside the fire pit. Of course, it's possible to build a box around the ugly propane tank, but it would be extremely difficult to match the stucco sides of the fir pit. Whether it's in a mismatched box or simply sitting beside the fire pit (where it can be kicked over), it's unacceptable. On the positive side, the Customer Service Department at Home Depot was extremely helpful in getting the fire pit picked up for return. If Cal Flame were as good at designing fire pits as Home Depot is at providing customer service, I would be enjoying the fire pit on my lanai this evening. January 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fire anytime. I was pleased that this unit comes assembled. It really is a great accent on my back patio. Looks great and easy to set up. Now with the flip of a switch I have fire. May 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly what we wanted The fire pit arrived in 3 days. It looks great and was easy to install and operate. It was exactly what I needed but couldnt find locally. Great job Home Depot! June 11, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Would be 5 stars if it worked out of the box Beautiful - it's exactly what we wanted. However it didn't work correctly out of the box. Some issues we had: 1. Auto-start didn't work. Had to use a lighter. 2. Fire wouldn't light throughout the burners - just one or two at a time. 3. Flame was less than 4 inches tall - not impressed. 4. Flame would "pop" up to about a foot then go out then pop again. Repeatedly (sounds like a hose/gas leak) 5. Couldn't put the rocks directly on the burner because fire wouldn't light or stay lit - had to spread them around the burner. I tried to call customer service, but it went to voicemail so I sent an email and included my receipt, S/N, picture of the firepit in action, etc. I received an email response within 24 hours (awesome response time!) to conduct the leak test to make sure the hoses are fine. I work out of town and am never home so I'm going to have my spousal unit perform the leak test AGAIN and then we'll take it from there. I did notice that there was a "tested by" sticker over the top of the entire burner unit. It looked like they left the sticker on when they tested the flame because the sticker was all melted. Shouldn't the sticker have been put on the burner unit AFTER it was tested? I wonder if some goop got in the burner unit. ? Undecided if I would recommend this product (so I'll say"no" for now). For $1,200+ you'd think it would work out of the box!!!! P.S. For some reason my "Other" Pros and Cons didn't appear on this review. So here they are: Other Cons: Didn't work out of the box; manufacturer should have tested the hoses prior to shipping. Other Pros: Quick response from customer service even though it wasn't the response I wanted. :-) August 7, 2012
