Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great tool to have The Material Estimator Calculator is built and designed well for use, and even has some nice little features that just make it that much better. The calculator is a bright yellow, so it will be easy to spot as I'm always loosing things. It comes with both a battery and a solar panel so you'll always be able to use it. The battery panel on the back that opens has a place for the manual for the calculator. It comes with a manual and quick reference guide sticker in both English and Spanish. The buttons are nice and responsive. You can use it as a standard calculator as well as using it to estimate the materials you'll need for your project. This make the job of getting the correct amount much easier than before. If you build projects frequently, this is a great tool to get. August 31, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by An Excellent Hand-held Calculator for Making Material and Regular Math Computations. This is an outstanding hand-held calculator for construction, engineering and design professionals, and the DIY homeowner for making material cost estimates. It also serves as a regular math calculator when balancing your checkbook or helping your kids with their math problems. The calculator's built in functions are too numerous to list. It quickly calculates material costs for concrete, fences, decks, bricks, tile, flooring, gravel, painting, drywall, and etcetera. Note there is a learning curve associated with using this calculator. However, after a few practice computations its use becomes second nature. A quick reference and pocket guides are supplied. The calculator is both solar and battery powered, and should provide many years of service even under harsh conditions. Well done Calculated Industries! August 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So Many Functions That Gives You Percise Accuracy First I would like to say this is going to make all my DIY projects a lot easier. When it comes to buying materials for projects I always purchase too much materials because I stink at math. Well that is all going to change now for the good and for my pocket book. This material pocket calculator has so many functions that its going to take me a long time to learn everything that it can do. This calculator makes it so easy to figure out how much materials you need in many different conversions all by just hitting the conv. button. If you have kids and they need help in math or you need to check their math home work well this calculator will do that for you. The two sources of power, battery and solar means that this material estimator calculator will last a very long time. I love that its pocket size, light weight and also comes with a cover to protect from all type of weather and dropping it. I am so glad that I picked this material estimator calculator it will always be in my tool box. September 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A handy little device with a lot of functions I have found myself using this calculator more then I thought I would. I kind of thought that it was just a gimmick at first but after learning how to use it I now realize it is not a gimmick at all but a handy tool to quickly calculate not only amounts of material needed but even how much the materials for any job are going to cost. If you are patient enough to learn all of the functions on this it will pay off in time saved estimating any job. Almost any basic building and landscaping materials are on this. I have found it also gives the user a certain level of confidence in planning a project because, unless you enter the wrong information, this takes the human error out of the equation so you can be sure that the numbers it comes up with are going to be right on. I am not very good with math so that is a pretty big deal. The tile function even takes into consideration the grout spacing so no guess work there. If you find yourself doing many of these calculations I would recommend giving this calculator a try. August 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quick Efficient Calculating Whether your are a DIY home owner or a full time trades person you know preparation and estimation are key to the success of any job big or small. But then again we don't want to spend all our time estimating what we need or don't need. Calculated industries is helping to solve this by developing a series of material estimating calculators, from the DIY to the full on General contractor. What I like about the model number 4019 is that it is a good middle of the road calculator , not to basic but not overkilled with functions I may never use. I also like the dual power, solar and battery (1: 3 volt CR2016). On the back there is a little door that flips down to store the "Pocket Reference Guide". You don't want to lose this , it is invaluable, it also has an English and Spanish version in separate 33 page guides. It also has a door that when closed protects the buttons, how often do you see that anymore. And believe it or not it can still be used as a good old fashion calculator. Until you get very proficient you will definitely need the reference guide, I had to start thinking differently in the way or should I say how to enter the required info for a particular calculation. I currently have two printed "Pocket " reference guides , one is 542 pages and the other is 768 pages . Don't get me wrong they can be extremely useful but with so many pages it's hard to even find the right chapter to make a simple conversion and the print is so small. Once again technology saves valuable time. I believe this calculator, for some, could pay for it's self. If I had one wish for improvement I would like to see a tilted display, or if I could figure out a way to hold the door on the back open it would sit at the perfect angle to see when sitting at my desk. This is a definite keeper. September 4, 2016
