Can this door be painted another color?

I would like to match the garage door to my entry door, but the color option does not exist.
Asked by: MichelleMH
In addition to painting the door with 100% acrylic latex paint, you also need to make sure that the LRV remains 38 or higher, this will also void your warranty. All of this is in the instructions that come with the door.

can you offset the garage door opener on these steel doors?

can you offset the garage door opener on these steel doors?
Asked by: jeff
This door lists "extension springs" and not torsion springs on the packing list. Torsion set up and proper re-enforcement, go for it. Extension spring set up, I would find another way . I have 20 years doing doors and I won't do an offset with extension springs on a steel door, EVER. Convert it to torsion springs and talk to a pro, if needed. There are less risky options and that is an expensive door. Sorry for the negativity but I did it before many years ago and my customer and I watched two panels fold before I could stop it. That was the day that I learned what the manufacturers warranty WILL NOT cover. That is called, installer error, and it hurt my pride and my wallet. Good Luck, Linny

Does this door have a internal weather stripping that goes around the door or external weather stripping? We really need something that deters wind.

Asked by: Kay
There are many varieties of trim available to put around the door, including trim for rounded arches and even to put on stucco. There is interior and exterior, wood, vinyl, aluminum channel with different angles and different length flexible brushes that slide in the aluminum channels. Google garage door trims, do your homework, and have fun. It doesn't take a pro to install. Make sure your nails or screws are appropriate for exterior use, or they will corrode in a season or two and "bleed" down your trim. I always start with the top piece and follow with the sides, spacing my nails every 12"-18" apart. If you want to use your nail gun and compressor, that's fine but put some extra standard "headed" nails in, regardless.Nails from the gun have minimal head and your vinyl trim will slide down them when it's hot weather, creating a wavy, droopy mess. Hope this helps, Linny

I need 2 of this garage door but with torsion spring

I need 2 of this garage door but with torsion spring
Asked by: bighorn
You can get this door with torsion springs but unfortunately you will need to go to a store to do it. These doors come pre-configured with extension springs however you can upgrade to torsion springs. Best bet is to print off this door or pull it up an your mobile device and show it to an associate in the doors & windows department. You can have them add EZ-set torsion springs to this door for $54.88 per door. EZ-set torsion springs allow for an easy DIY installation of torsion springs. Standard torsion springs can be dangerous and should only be installed by a professional. We do offer a professional installation program as well. You can go to homedepot.com/garagedoors and build whatever door you want. If you add the Medallion Hardware Upgrade at the end it will automatically upgrade you to extended life cycle torsion springs. Hope this helps. Thanks for shopping at The Home Depot!

Gallery Collection 9 ft. x 7 ft. 18.4 R-Value Intellicore Insulated Solid White Garage Door is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent upgrade No issues what so over. Replaced a set of doors that were likely form when the house was built in 1982. Much lighter than the solid wood doors they replaced.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Door. Fairly Easy to Assemble. Bought this thinking I would help with insulating the garage a bit since it sits below two bedrooms that can get cold in the winter. Installed this myself and found the instructions fairly straightforward. Be aware that this door has a tongue and groove like attachment for each segment which may cause some clearance issues if you are attaching it to a currently installed garage door opener. I ended up having to raise mine about a half inch for the door to pass under the track bar when closing. Overall happy with the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Door if you can follow instructions you can put this in yourself. While I struggled with the 16 foot wide last panel, I did install it myself.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Quality, lot's of work! The installation requires 9-10 hours per door, decent skills and a set of tools. You'll be planning, measuring & centering, metal cutting, drilling, screwing (lots) and leveling. I was able to do a 9'x7' door alone, but it's quite difficult to lift the door before getting the springs installed, since you're lifting the entire door yourself and mine weighs over 150 lbs, I would guess. I was disappointed that the panels are not pre-drilled for the handle hardware. It takes a significant amount of time accomplish - to transfer drill points from the drawing to the door panel, then to drill the holes, install the spacers, then bolt on the handles. At one point, the instruction said to drill 1/2" holes for handle spacers, but the spacers were only about 3/8". This was the only really bad instruction I found. The other big effort that is not handled by the kit is the support structure for the rear of the tracks. You must purchase your own angle irons and fasteners, plan a support with angle braces, cut to fit, and install on your garage roof. If the garage roof trusses are not well spaced for this, then you'll also need to purchase 2x4's to nail up to create good mounting platforms for the the support structures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet and energy efficient Easy install if a new installation. Interesting and challenging for a retro fit but worked out well in the end.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Looking Doors Purchased 3 doors 9x8 for new construction in a log home. Great looking doors, my builder thought they looked much more expensive. Needed good R value as garage will be heated.
