In my basement I have a space that is designated a bedroom and it includes a fairly sizable walk-in closet. I needed some shelves to put in there since I was going to try living downstairs and make the whole basement my personal space. Anyhow, the price for these shelves was right and they made a great addition to the closet space. I'm used to different mounting hardware i.e. anchors, screwing things into beams, etc. Anyhow, the closet shelving is added and it seems to be holding up just fine. Next step is to add a small chair, a mirror, and shoe and pant racks. If you don't need anything fancy, or if you want to experiment with setups without investing in super expensive and permanent hardware, consider these guys. They'll definitely give you a feel for your space and provide the utility you need.

Nice system for our closet. Nice fit for our closet. Used screws rather than polished spikes provide in case we move the shelves. Note we have one hundred year old plaster walls.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by limorris It works but poor design
The way they designed the support brackets don't make sense, they should be flipped up. My husband just adjusted them with pliers to make them sturdy. Hard to describe but you can get them to work for you. And for the price hard to beat.

Be aware, you won't be putting jeans or hanging jackets from these. They will fall down. I am a very experienced installer and was even careful to catch every stud I could and just had a long run fail. Now, I have to run 1x3 boards behind and use double or triple the number of clips and braces. It was my own fault, I have used these may times over the years and I guess I trusted them too much. But I am still bummed. It's a fine product for the price, but if you are going to load them up you will need the contractor bags of extra hardware from ClosetMaid (or some superior substitute from McMaster-Carr) and go to the studs or a backing board. Even in the studs, the included brackets will fail, they are the weakest point - so again, you will need extras from ClosetMaid or to make other arrangements to share the load. The end brackets should also reduce the chance of failure quite a bit, so you may want to add those as well.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by wemoodydc Good, simple system for small closet
As long as you don't want to change the configuration of the closet, this is actually a really good system to add a shelf and rod to your closet. I did have to trim the length to fit in my closet, but it was easy to do with a hacksaw, and the included hardware made the finished product look factory. The retainers and support system are simple and effective. The one disadvantage is that, because it relies on many retainers fixed to holes in the wall, it would be very hard to reconfigure the shelving layout without filling about a dozen holes and re-painting. If you think you might ever want to change the closet, you absolutely want the adjustable rail system instead.

Replaced the "nails" included to use with plastic tabs and used screws with the tabs instead plus make sure at least the middle brackets were going into studs instead of just using the tabs in sheetrock.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Cathy Easy install, great shelfing
The shelving itself was supper easy to install (measure, drill, pop in dry wall nails and install shelves). I would high recommend these shelves for anyone looking to organize your storage. My hubby and I completed 1 coat rack (hardware was missing for the 2nd shelf) and 6 shelves within 2 hours. Super easy. The overall rating was low/fair was because I ordered all the items on line and I received everything except I was missing one of the 2 bags of hardware needed from the closet kit . I called Home Depot and described the problem and they said they would promptly mail out the needed items. However, only the rod hooks showed up. Instead of going through the hassle again, I picked up the need items to finish the project a week later. Returning the extra pieces was also super easy and hassle free. For my next project I will pick up the items in the store to ensure I have everything I need.

I need a sturdy single rack in a 6 by 10 room to hang along the wall. The connect and assemble rack from Walmart was weak and broke. This mounted nicely in the wall studs and gave me 6 foot for hanging my shirts suits and pants plus stacking clothes on the top rack . Very pleased as it served its purpose
