I wanted to replace the old PAR16 60W halogen floods in my dining room window with LED bulbs but there were very few options, I wanted to have the same gimbal feature as well but again replacement bulbs in LED were up in the $30 range anyway so I went with these.
After reading about filing rivets I was a bit apprehensive but went for it anyway since I could always return them. They fit into my old HALO H99T housings without a problem at all, I installed all four in 15 minutes. The existing Lutron magnetic dimmer did not need to be changed either.
- Color is whiter that the 60W halogens they replaced and seem brighter.
- Probably not full spectrum like the halogens but look great and are going to save money on electric.
- Takes a 1/10th of a second to come on but dimming range is excellent from full on to nearly off.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by don1232 A great light.
My electrician and I installed 30 + of these cans in a basement project, and never once did we have to file a rivet. If you know what you're doing they're a breeze. They produce great light. And are a great value for the money. Like anything a little experience helps.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by kento A nice looking replacement for a 4" can with installation issues.
It took a while to figure out why the fixture would not fully insert into the can, not allowing it to be flush with the ceiling. It turns out that the 2 rivets holding the metal standoff that supports the electronics need to be filed down to allow the unit to seat properly in the can. If you don't mind having to modify the product to circumvent this design flaw, it works well and looks nice. Since there's no simple bulb in this unit, I do have reservations about the cost of replacing the light should it fail after the seemingly short 3 year warranty. LED bulbs from other manufacturers typically carry a 6 year guarantee.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by M3Pete Nice, cost effective solution with installation issues
Summary: Nice light, relatively inexpensive, dims well, color is pleasant, direction easy to change, but installation is a pain.
I agree with kento, this is a good light, but the rivets holding up the electronics above the lamp interfere with installation into the cans listed on the fixture. I used a Halo H99ICAT from HD, but had to file the rivets to get it in. There is still enough meat on the rivets to hold the bracket that supports the electronics, but it took about 10 minutes a light to get it filed down.
The other pain is the ground wire that you have to self tap into the top of the can. It is difficult to get the wire and the screw up there, in a narrow 4" can, without having the wire pull the screw off the screwdriver, even with a magnetic tip. I had to disconnect the ground wire from the light, which requires removing the electronics from the support bracket to get the ground wire on and off.
I disagree with Homedepotshopper, I like the end result very much. I am using them as wall washers, so I do not see the face of the bulb. The light both swivels and tilts, so you can change the light direction and angle after it is installed.
This seems to be one of the least expensive 4" LED gimbals available right now, I've been looking around and don't find much else for this price. It dims well with a Leviton Vizia vpi06 dimmer. I did not notice any color change, which sometimes happens with LED dimming. The color is just a touch whiter than the soft white of the Ecosmart 4" soft white LED recessed lights in the rest of the room, but still a warm color. They are nice and bright, probably about the same as a 50 watt halogen, for only 12 watts.
I liked the construction as well, they appear to be all cast aluminum, not plastic. I found this by being slightly careless with the file, and filing through the white paint on the trim (the underside, where it won't show)
But I did find a quality control issue. I bought five lights and tested all of them. One was noticeably dimmer than the rest, and took nearly a full second longer to light. The other four were very consistent in brightness, even when dimmed.
Bottom line: if you are a DIYer who does not mind a bit of modification to get this light to install, go for it. If you are a contractor looking to put these in and not spend all day doing it, either find the right can or use a different light.

First off, unbeatable price for the product! I could only give it 4 stars on quality as one of the many of those that I bought was defective, yet, HD made it right so no complaints there. Second, forget all the talk talk of grinding rivets. I bought some older ones and that was an issue. The new ones recessed the mounts and solved that problem. They now fit in HALO remodel cans with little issue. Just make sure you line up the clips so they don't mess with the clamps on the remodel can.
Very bright, does dim with a compatible dimmer, but don't expect it to dim as low as a traditional bulb. We put 4 in a 270sqft bedroom with vaulted ceilings (up to 13 ft). It really lights up the space. We never put the dimmer above 60%. For really dim mood lighting, I recommend skipping the LEDs. For kinda dim soft lighting, great!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kevlarster Dimmable without Flicker, Easy to Install, Nice modern look, Warm 3000K Light, Not Harsh.
Looks great, easy to install and dims nicely with the recommended dimmer switch.
I have plaster ceiling with flooring above. I just cut the 4" hole with a Klein Tools hole saw ($28), purchased 4 (1 for each light) light bulb receptacle with two-wire and screwed the included bulb socket attachment into these which I wired to the dimmer feed. I didn't use housings (this is neither recommended nor to code) but they fit nicely and are secure in the plaster ceiling.
These also dim nicely without flicker using the recommended dimmer and 4 lights wired together.
The gimbal swivels 360 deg, and tilts approx 30 deg with an equal amount protruding from the trim. The LED mount has an eyeball effect, but it is clean, not like a traditional eyeball-style light.

I was suprised by the amount of light these fixtures put out. I was worried that they wouldn't be bright enough but I was wrong, in fact I am puting them on a dimmer now because I put too many lights in if that's possible. I like that they are adjustable and flexiible enough for directional lighting. I did have one bad fixture out of the first five that I bought so I am holding my breath on the other 8 that I ordered but Home Depot took the bad one back no questions asked.
