Customer Questions & Answers

Does this grout need to be sealed?

Asked by: ChrisDiMarioo
I would seal this grout or buy a different brand. I had my bathroom remodeled and the contractor used this grout to tile my shower. Had mildew stains on the floor within two months. Contractor cleaned and reapplied the grout, swore up and down it didn't need to be sealed. Well as you can see from the picture not six months later the mildew is worse.

aqua mix non-cement grout release...also for future tile projects use a product call "grout release" by aqua mix BEFORE grouting...goes on the tile preventing staining from grout

will this product also stick to wood?

I am installing tile next to wood, will the epoxy grout also stick to the adjoining wood floor at the marriage line?
Asked by: Suz52
Yes. I installed a granite tile countertop and used red oak as trim around counter edge. Before grouting, I stained the wood and sealed it and then masked it off with tape. I've had it installed about a month, now, and all looks well.

After one year exactly, mold is now forming in the grout on my shower floor. I spent a small fortune completely installing a new shower and requested only the "best" grout product that would deter mold. I was assured, by Home Depot, this product would work. This shower is used only twice a week and wiped down completely after each use and door left open for full circulation to dry out. I am very upset and angry. NOTHING is removing the mold!!!! WOULD NOT recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Follow the directions My first grout job consisting of approximately 250sq of 1/4" lines on 1x2' tile. It turned out great. I received a compliment from my girlfriends dad who is a professional installer. Reading the negative reviews below is a bit frustrating. One way or another it seems a majority are simply not following the directions listed on the bucket(i.e. keep surface slightly wet, small areas at a time, clean methodically with sponge then microfiber etc) I don't usually write reviews but I do not think the product is being used correctly. ..or maybe I am a day 1 grout master. Either way i am looking forward to using this product in the bathrooms next.

Where do I begin to describe the nightmare we experienced trying to work with this product. We were grouting wall tile which should have taken a couple of hours but turned into a day. This Fusion Pro grout is terrible. Because this grout dries so quickly we worked with one to two tiles at a time.....The instructions call for 3 to 4 minutes of application which is about 20 square feet. Their estimate was far off the mark. In addition, the grout did not easily adhere to the wall, half of the product ended up falling to the floor. By the end of the day we were just happy to end this grouting fiasco. Will never purchase this product again nor make a recommendation. Would have given zero stars for the review but I did not have this option.

Our contractor tiled our shower floor with it last March and by May we had mildew forming. He said it didn't need to be sealed but I beg to differ! No amount of cleaning works. Now it's a total mess. We have an open shower with just a small three foot glass partition so it's not humid in there. Plus we had two vents installed. Chances are we will have to replace our tile/grout. Do NOT use this product in a wet area!

When it came time to grout I read through all the reviews and almost didn't order this product. We decided to go with it and follow the directions precisely. We watched the video's and followed the directions exactly as written. The finished product looks beautiful ! I am happy we decided to give it a try. It is very important that you watch the videos and not deviate from the directions. We worked as a team, he did the grout and I did the clean up immediately after. it is critical to clean the water frequently ( we used clean water each time it got foggy which seemed to be every other clean up. I can't stress enough the importance of following the directions and immediate clean up. We opted to use two different colors Oyster Gray - floor and shower tile Light Smoke- Mosaic tile

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The grout of the future floor I had the opportunity to evaluate this flooring grout. First note this is intended to use with floating SnapStone(tm) flooring. It applies differently that cement based grouts and seems more like a silicone caulk. Application is tricky as you must move fast over small areas. READ AND UNDERSTAND THE INSTRUCTIONS. After the floor is installed I suggest snapping a couple down on a sheet of OSB and PRACTICE grouting if you have never use this product before. It grouts so fast you can use the floor in 24 hours and will be ready for normal traffic in 72 hours. The results are a watertight and no need to seal. I don't know about the ones having issues with showers, probably not the best choice and go with epoxy or mix a polymer in with cement grout for showers. But all the other negative posts about how difficult it is. Please you never used true epoxy grout have you. Just keep doing small areas and you won't have any trouble, I'm grouting 18" tiles and I will do a pattern of about 6 wipe those down and just keep moving. Just dont take any breaks after you put the grout down and before wiping with a sponge. Just use a grout sponge with the cloth on one side and use it first. Actually its very simple because there is no mixing and if you ever used epoxy grout well once you mix you are done 5 minutes later and throw away the rest of what you mixed.

I am currently... this is my 2nd review of this product. it should be pulled from the store shelves. I am currently in the process of removing a shower floor I installed 2- years ago. I'm a general contractor and was encouraged to try this product by HD flooring dept. I should have gone with my gut feeling "to good to be true". its not for the beginner, and if you think this "all in one" approach is worth the try, don't. stick with a premium mortar when setting tile, and premium grout & sealer to finish, will it take more time....Yes. I'm calculating that my cost for trying this product on that customers shower will set me back $3000.00 including time and materials, not to mention the customer being upset with the issues involved. I wonder if HD really reads these reviews.
