This stopper really does not fit well in my drain hole, but I have figured out that it is not really the fault of the stopper. I know very little about appliances or plumbing, so I measure the top diameter of my sink drain and ordered the same size stopper. The sink was designed for a metal drain stopper with a plunger mechanism, which has been lost. The problem is, or so I believe, is that the walls of the drain hole are straight up and down, while the new rubber stopper is angled in. So the stopper now sinks fairly low into the hole. It still stops most of the water from draining. But my advice to anyone with the same situation is to buy one size up from the top diameter of the hole. That might help the rubber stopper to be more level with the bottom of the sink, and hold in the water better. At this price, why not just get a couple sizes to be sure?
