These linesman pliers might work for a homeowner doing occasional light electrical work. If you depend on them for daily work with Romex, you will be disappointed. The jaws simply don't open wide enough to twist much other than a couple of 12 or 14 guage. If your'e doing anything lower in guage or higher in humber of cables, these fail miserably. The catch to hold them close does not work properly and they continually open making digging them out of my pouch an irritant. I finally got rid of them and ordered real linesman pliers. Very disappointed as I own many Dewalt woodworking tools. After looking round, they appear to be a standard Made in China plier that different companies sell using their color and name.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HoosierDude Great set of pliers! Pulled deep staples out of sub floor.
I love Dewalt tools. I had several sets of old pliers but none of them could get deep enough to remove staples from a subfloor. I'm a DIY'er and this is my first time installing hardwoods. I bought these pliers specifically for the staple removal (there were a LOT of 'em) and I wasn't disappointed. The rubber handles provided non slip gripping and the nose can dig deep when needed. Love 'em!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by NickRTR Powerful but limited jaws
The compound joint gives you increased gripping / cutting force with less effort, but it also reduces the action of the jaws so that they don't open wide enough to attack larger materials. The jaws have an aggressive cross-cut surface for increased grip. They're spring-loaded to automatically open, hence the awkward locking mechanism. They're fine for small, odd DIY jobs, but I'm not giving up my Klein Linesman pliers. I only bought this because I needed something NOW for an odd household job and the price was cheaper than driving 30 miles to retrieve my tools from my job site.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by jay We needed wire cutter
The pliers were purchased to cut bailing wire on cardboard blocks at a grocery store. After using them they proved to be excellent. We used 11 gauge wire so its not so easy to cut.

It does have good cutting power. It is hard to cut 12/3 wire. It doesn't open wide enough

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bentleyd Not the typical linesman plier but they work
These are definitely not your typical linesman plier but they do work. I haven't fully field tested these pliers just yet but messing around with them, here's what I found.
Pros and cons- comfortable grips and overall feel. The jaws have an aggressive serration pattern that bit down nicely while twisting two pairs of14/2 romex. Hopefully they'll hold up. The cutter is very sharp however after the very first snip I could see the black oxide finish started to wear. The joining pin has a fair amount of space around it because there's a good amount of tooling oil oozing out.
Overall I would recommend these I have fairly small hands I'm not an electrician by trade but while doing maintenance and electrical repairs these worked great and saved me a lot of fatigue. I was able to use one tool to change out a switch, they worked great as dedicated strippers and even hooking loops for going around the screws.
