I am having a problem Loading the staples into the gun and the sliding bar will not for some reason go below the staples and allow me to lock the staples in place. Is there a secret to this as it is a brand new stapler right out of the package. Unfortunately I do not have the package it came in anymore with any instructions on how to operate it.
Asked by: Gregory
The sliding bar is not supposed to go below the staples. It should come right against the staplers and push the staplers against the edge of the compartment. Press the end clip and then pull the sliding bar completely out. Install the staplers with the sharp point up into the chamber. Push the sliding bar forward until it click. Then you're ready to go. Test it with the first fire into a bag to make sure staplers are loaded correctly. If this doesn't work, maybe you should take it back to HD for a replacement.

What size staples does it take and can I use it to staple a half inch thick carpet runner to my hard wood stairs

This gun uses T50 sized staples. I haven't seen staples for this gun longer than a 1/2 inch so you may need a more substantial gun.

Wanted a second stapler for a helper to use on a project. I own several Dewalt tools so based on that and their name I decided to try this stapler. Purchased 3/2/2017. used twice for maybe a total of 300 staples and it broke. I can hear some part or another rattling around inside and the gun will no longer shoot staples. Not going to waste my time trying to fix it, just going to return and go with an industry standard-Arrow T50. Should have listened to the reviews before purchasing. Very disappointing to see Dewalt putting their name on this kind of junk. Don't waste your time/money on an inferior product.

I bought this to help put up insulation and plastic sheeting in my garage. The gun works very well and is extremely simple to refill. Using your body weight and with the gun level you get very good results. I had no issues using about 1000 staples with this gun. The only catch is it seems to waste about 3-5 staples when you replace with a new set. Not a big deal but worth noting.

I bought this product because I have always had success with DeWalt tools. I used for a very simple project stapling lights to a wood fence. The gun jammed after every use. It went jam-jam-jam-staple-jam-jam-jam-staple, and so on. A lot of wasted staples. Very disappointing.

It miss fired several times, but never jammed. It was able to drive 1/2 inch long staples fully into a 2x6. Good for DIY jobs. I would recommend a higher level staple gun for professional use.

We used it to secure radiant barrier to walls and under the roof line. During the whole day using it, it didn't jam once. The release force of staples is consistent for each hit so the work went well. The hang clip turns out to be really convenient during installation as it frees up your hands for other tasks. The stapler will hang from your side pocket which is readily available when you're ready to staple. Got to say that this may be the smoothest staple gun we have ever used. Home Depot has this stapler with a box of staplers combo for less than $17... great deal. Go get it!

I used it successfully one time several weeks ago. Today, when I went to use it for the SECOND time, the trigger mechanism failed. No matter what I try, I cannot get the trigger to fire/click. I emptied the unit and was able to dry fire it several times. When I reload the staples the unit will not fire. I have emptied and reloaded several times and I have the same problem. The trigger will simply not engage with staples in it. In case you are wondering, "no, there are no staples jammed inside." I used my cheaper Arrow staple gun successfully for many years until someone "borrowed" it. I thought DeWalt would be an upgrade. I was wrong. Stay away.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unreliable Staple Gun - Constant misfires Let me first say that I am not one to go out of my way to post reviews... I have had this staple gun for a few months now and it is horrible...I plan on returning it for a superior product. It worked great the first few times used, but then it began to misfire. Its to the point now that I may get lucky to fire 1 staple after 10-15 pulls of the trigger. What piece of junk.
