I bought this glue gun after a friend said he was happy with his. I used the Stanley glue sticks as that is the only ones they carried for this gun. About 15 minutes after first powering up the gun it still was not hot enough to dispense glue. At least 30 minutes later it was just able to get the glue to extrude from the tip. It never did really get hot enough to run a bead of glue.
The pawl that is supposed to feed the glue never did work. The only wasy to get a bead was to push the stick by hand. I did take it apart and modify the pawl but then the gun would still not run a good bead due to the low temps.
Don't waste your money, as others have also said!

I know there are a lot of bad reviews about this gun and I do not think the gun itself is the problem, when I purchased this I bought the Stanley 10" glue sticks ,450 diameter that were sitting right next to it as I am thinking a lot of people have done. The gun worked for a minute with those sticks and I started having the same issues other people were having, I combed the internet for a solution and then I even took apart the gun to see if something was out of whack and I couldn't find an answer to my problem. I was about to return this to HD for a refund and write this off as my first DeWalt disappointment when my wife says "why don't you try one of my glue sticks?" So I did and I used a sure bond 4"x.430 diameter stick and the gun worked flawlessly. I have been using the .430 x 4" or 6" length glue sticks of different brands for about 6 months now and this gun has preformed flawlessly and has been very reliable for me.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Drew Flawed Product, needs to be redesigned.
This glue gun seemed really sturdy, and I was very pleased with it when I first bought it. Unfortunately, it has two major flaws which seem to be rampant within the model. Firstly, it doesn't get as hot as you would expect. It seemed to have a very hard time melting the glue sticks that are recommended for it, and even then it didn't melt it all the way. Secondly, the unit's design does not feed the glue stick into the melting chamber properly. I started using this product the day I bought it. I let it heat up for about 15 minutes and it worked fine the first time. Several days later, I went to use it again and followed the same process, but found that it had started malfunctioning. I had to use my thumb to push the glue through the gun. I hadn't even managed to get halfway through the first glue stick when I gave up. What a waste.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Astenaga Love the gun the sticks the company sells are worthless
Bought this product because of DeWalt's reputation and personal experience with the company's products. Was highly discouraged and disappointed with my purchase. Glue sticks fed well for about the first quarter and then had to push them through. Had some Gorilla glue sticks and on a whim decided to try them. I am absolutely happy with the results. I don't know if DeWalt is aware of the problem or who screwed up but the glue sticks made by this company for their product aren't worth a darn.

Excited to see a DeWalt glue gun so I had to have it... Been using it, heats up quick, however the trigger is useless. Work great for a bit then the trigger slips. Have had to push the glue stick with my thumb.

This thing is unreal. It was dispensing glue in 3 minutes. The oversize heel on the grip with the power cord exiting to the rear means you can stand it anywhere. I use Arrow glue sticks and have had no issues.
I read one review that claimed it didn't drip when at rest, and I didn't believe it, but mine doesn't drip. I can't figure out how the designers achieved that, but there it is. I am very happy with this gun.
