Customer Questions & Answers

What is the temp setting

Asked by: BLU
There is some confusion about this. The packaging says the glue is 380 degrees (F) at the tip however the Dewalt website says it is a 50 watt gun. The 50 watt guns run around 275 to 300 degrees and are known as "low temp" guns. High temp guns use 100 watts to get the glue up to 410 degrees. Some guns have a switch and are known as "dual range".

I got this for my wife to do her crafts with and she used it once and now it will not heat up. I checked the cord and plug and everything seemed fine. I have several Dewalt tools that get a bunch of use and I love but this has been a total disappointment. I will be returning this.

Unfortunately, I've had it for over one year so it's out of warranty. Incidentally, they tout their "Limited Lifetime Warranty", however it's the lifetime of the product, which is no longer than one year. Huh!?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Glue Advance I had the same problem as others had with the glue not advancing as soon as I took the gun out of the box. Of course I lost my receipt so taking the gun back was not really an option. So I decided to take the gun apart and try to fix it. My only other option was throw it away. The problem with the glue advance is that there is a lever not engaging in the moving mechanism that advanced the stick. I took punch and tapped it loose. Reassembled the gun and wala. It works great now. Just wanted to share this info in case someone else is in the position that I was. I would not purchase the gun again because the customer should not have to repair a new product.
