I have owned Weber grills and some lesser brand grills in the past and I was considering a Weber again. My brother has had a Ducane for 15 years and he loves it. Now that Weber owns Ducane it seemed like a good choice to make. The quality is Weber at a lower price. I have been cooking on it for a few weeks now and it has a few hot spots but nothing that you can't figure out quickly. I chose the 3100 because I didn't need a ton of space. I can easily cook 9-10 chicken breasts or steaks at a time. I like the stainless steel grate better than the ceramic that comes on the Weber. The ignitor always works on the first try and the grill heats up quickly. It took me about an hour to assemble the grill. The instructions were large and easy to follow. I enjoy building things so it wasn't a hassle for me.
My only complaint is that Home Depot had free shipping on all products over $299.00. The Ducane 3100 was $299.99 but they wouldn't give free shipping on Ducane grills. I even paid with my Home Depot card. It cost me $55.00 to have it drop shipped to my local Home Depot. It was still less money than the Weber Genesis and just as good a grill in my opinion.

This grill is excellent. It is the cheapest grill you can get that is still manufactured by Weber. Weber acquired Ducane. The grill was easy to set up. It took about an hour and the grill feels very solid. The grill has performed well heating quickly and fairly even. It is hotter toward the front but it is nothing major. The flavorizer (covers for the burners) were all bent on arrival. After a 3 minute call to customer service I was shipped new ones no questions asked. The customer service is excellent and the warranty for the grill is equally as impressive. I highly recommend this grill.

Very easy to set up (took less than 45 minutes). The grill can get up to over 400 degrees very quickly with even heat distribution. It is very sturdy and is built by Weber so this was expected.
I would recommend this grill to anybody, especially those who are not looking to spend the money to get the Weber Genesis series. In my opinion the Ducane 3100 wins over Weber's Spirit series.
The warming rack is very odd. i simply just didn't install it so I would have more grill area.

After much fretting over Weber vs. cheaper brands, we came across Ducane. Friends who had old Ducanes raved about them, and we liked the Weber name behind them now. When mine arrived, one of the burner valve stems was bent in shipping and wouldn't work, and there was a ding in the bottom of a side panel where the stem hit it. With one call to customer service, both replacement parts were on their way and arrived in 3 days. I even downplayed the severity of the side panel ding, but the cust service rep insisted on sending a new one. Best cust service I have EVER experienced for a product at this price point. Grill itself works well so far, and I suspect will have a good life expectancy. Plus, knowing Weber cust service can likely always help me w/ replacement parts makes it a great long-term value.

I don't think you can beat this grill without spending a considerable amount more. It seems well built for this price point, and I think it will last. It gets hotter than my previous 4 burner grill, and heats up quicker. I also like that the cooking grates are stainless steel, rather than the porcelain coated cast iron grates that most grills come with now. This is way easier to clean, I've found that porcelain coating scrapes off easily (even when you are careful) leaving your cast iron to rust. With stainless, you can use a brush to clean, and not worry about it. These stainless grates are thick and heavy enough that they hold heat well, they are not too thin and light. The warming rack is porcelain coated, but I don't find that to be a big deal since it doesn't take the same level of abuse. It is easy to take that off and clean gently in the sink when needed.
The heat is definitely a bit inconsistent across the cooking surface, but it's really just a matter of getting comfortable with where the hot spots are, so you either center around it, or rotate as necessary to keep the cooking even. I've seen the same on every grill I've tried in this price range. It is still a great grill at a great price, and I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.
I have one design criticism. The lip that blocks the grates from being lifted up is on the front of the grill. It would be nice if that lip was on the rear, so that you could lift the front of the grates up to wipe the heat plates or easily take them out for cleaning. Instead you have to lift the grates from the rear, and take the grates totally off to get to the heat plates. The warming rack ends up a bit in the way when doing this also.
All in all, this is a great grill at a great price. I should also mention that I shopped around, and Home Depot has the best price.

Pretty nice barbecue so far, took a little getting used to it heating so quickly. You have to start each individual burner one after another, but that's okay. I have not grilled on steel grates before, but it seems to cook evenly.

Ordered the Ducane 3100 via Home Depot's internet sales and was very pleased. The grill was less expensive than almost all the internent and local prices and was delivered to my door within 5 days. Assembly was pretty straight forward and only needed a couple of ordinary hand tools. The entire assembly only took me about 90 minutes. Once assembled everything worked and there were no issues at all. The only item that wasn't covered in the assembly instructions was where the grease defelector was supposed to go. I am guessing this is an optional item as I don't use it anyway. I have grilled twice and am very happy with the results. This grill cooks evenly and it will go all the way to 600 degrees very quickly. The grill cleans easily and everything is easy to get to. I have been grilling for 30 years and this is a great grill for the price!!

Set up was quite easy. The grill parts are well-made enough to let one person put the grill together with minimum effort in about 90 minutes.
The burners run hotter than my prior Brinkmann Grill, which is a good thing. First steaks came out perfectly.
The grill has a gas flow shut-off, which was awkward at first. Using an almost empty tank, the shut-off prevented me from turning on all three burners at high. Annoying, but does not seem to be a problem with my full tank.
