The black peeled off of the baskets in first few months of normal use by two careful adults after a complete kitchen remodel. Returned the baskets to the store for free exchange assuming perhaps it was a bad batch. The problem soon reoccurred. I wrote to Koehler and received no response.

Sadly, I too have flaking paint after only a few mths use. I contact Kohler's warranty department and it will be replaced. I thought I was purchased a quality product?
The disposal flange paint also chipped after a few mths. Yes, they'll send me a new one put the installation is up to me. I hope I don't have the same quality problem as I did with the original one.

I had to replace my koehler strainer after 15 years. I had an easy time of ordering and getting the item. This is the original factory item. This was shipped from Koehler to my locah HD and I picked it up. Easy peazy. Price was great.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Kelly Perfect match, but peels!
When redoing our kitchen, I searched high and low for a matching duo strainer and body. FINALLY found this one at Home Depot, we went over budget because these were expensive. Over $100 for two of them. After about 2 months, the strainer basket started chipping and peeling :( I went to Home Depot and they were VERY good at exchanging the piece for me. Actually, they have been very good exchanging the 4 times that I have taken it back. Every 3 or so months I take it back in.
Today, I called Kohler, they said that they don't have a replacement that does not chip. They offered to replace it as a courtesy...but I feel that this doesn't solve the problem.
This set matches my black granite/composite sink perfectly! I would look for something else, or take advantage of Home Depot exchanging it every time it peels!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AnotherDoItMyselfer Kohler Duostrainer Basket & Body in Black
I recently remodeled my kitchen and decided on putting in a dark Harvest Green Granite Farm sink. I didn't want a bright colored or chrome drain at the bottom. Kohler offers this heavier weighted strainer in black! It practically disappears in the Granite. It looks absolutely beautiful. Leave it to Kohler to come up with another wonderful choice in Kitchen and Bath hardware. I'm totally pleased. .... now, if I can find Plumber's putty in black instead of beige... life would be perfect ;>) !

Bought this product to go with a new sink less than 6 months ago. Paint starting chipping off edge of strainer revealing chrome underneath. Cheap product with exhorbitant mark-up. Can buy the chrome version of this strainer for $18. Apparently that is all this is, with a layer of black paint on top. Should have bought the chrome one and a $5 can of enamel paint and done it myself.

My Kohler strainer basket that came with the sink fell apart so I purchase an off brand but it didn't fit properly so didn't hold water in the sink and was made from plastic parts so I tossed it. Finally purchased a new Kolhler part made from all metal so I did like how it looked. The problem is it holds water too well. When I do manage to get it to stay 'open' for drainage it is so painfully slow. The sink drains so slowly that the water with food residue remains in the sink too long and leaves behind the fowl residue. Works great for holding water in but horrible drainage. It wasn't too expensive but how can I give it a good value rating if it doesn't work?
