Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very good heater This is a great heateer. Within 10 minutes your warm. Fuel efficient it is not but its high btu, clean and fast so you cant expect it to run for free.Everything about this heater is great but it needs wheels March 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Purchase!!! This is my first kerosene torpedo heater. I did as advised by some friends, and left my garage door open slightly, and I also left a window open about 10 inches for fresh air!! The only time I smelled fumes was when turning on or off. Otherwise, throws amazing heat, and the thermostat works great. Does consume kerosene quicker than I thought, but I am warm while restoring my car in the winter now. So far, so good! No more losing five months a year of NOT being in my garage! And my wife is happy, because I am not making her nuts all winter!! How can you beat that? November 13, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Needs a better thermostat It's a wonderful well made kerosene heater. However, the thermostat could use some improving. I use it for backup heat in my greenhouse and set it for 63 degrees at night, and the temperature has dropped to 54 without it turning on. The knob on the thermostat clicks at 10 degree intervals with a line in between each 10. The knob wants to pop back to either 60 or 70, probably from the vibration. It only takes a little bit of motion for the knob to practically move on its own. This is the only problem, but it is a disappointment since precise temps are what I need. I may have to use my own thermostat in between the unit and the power to offset this. Maybe it's just my particular heater. I do love the fuel gage and runtime indicator plus the 2 carrying handles that make the unit easy to move. Heats quickly. May 12, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great heater I purchased this heater today for my workshop. The heater did a fantastic job of warming the area up. My work shop is approximately 15 feet x 40 feet. This heater is awesome. My work shop has no insulation as of yet, has a tin roof, and many gaps open to the elements. I am not kidding, I took my sweater off this evening due to the high output from the heater. I hate the cold, but this heater does such a fantastic job I could have worked all night without any worries. I am more than happy with this purchase. I would recommend this product to anyone requiring instant and continuous heat. It was 39 degrees tonight, and I was working in a tee shirt due to this heater, unreal. December 27, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great heater, but heavy This is a great heater for the $. The only possible issue is that, when full of fuel, it is HEAVY. Others have commented that building a cart would be a good idea, and it is. But if you plan on navigating steps it may be a bit cumbersome. I may yet build a cart, but for the present just partially fill the heater and plan on filling it more often. The thermostat and fuel indicator are quite handy. December 9, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome heater I bought this heater to work on my metal fabrication workshop (3 car garage). I keep the two garage doors cracked open at the bottom and a side door cracked open. (I'm paranoid of carbon monoxide poisoning). Anyway the heater works beautifully. It heats the garage up nicely to around 70F while the outside temps are in the low 30's. I'm in a t-shirt while it's on. Pros: lots of heat; large kerosene fuel tank to last me a couple of weekends; thermostats which is AWESOME! Cons: about as loud as my wife's hair dryer set on high; slight kerosene smell but you get used to it; no wheel kit available and this is why I did not give it a 5 star rating. Otherwise, it's 5 stars on performance guaranteed. To make a simple wheel kit, simply buy a 2x4" and cut it into 4 pieces. Nail or wood screw the pieces together in the shape of a rectangle, add 4 caster wheels. Set the heater on top and you have an instant "wheel kit.". You should have one or two of those caster wheels "locking" type to prevent it from rolling away down your driveway. I tried a 230v electric heater and it was no comparrison. I sold it. My work has a 3-phase 460v industrial heater and it CAN NOT compete with this kerosene burner! That's the truth! I highly recommend this unit because it's almost too big at times. In that case, I just open a garage door wider. Also, try to use the "Klean-Heat" fuel instead which is also sold at many Home Depots. It's cleaner burning than 1-K kerosene. January 17, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Will be Nice for Winter Puts out some good heat at about 700F. Takes about 20 minutes to heat up a two car garage from 40F to 70F. When used with a good quality K-1 fuel it burns nice and clean with no fumes. The smell reminds me of burning JP-4 when I worked in the Air Force. It burns the fuel at a rather good clip so I would recommend getting a 5 gallon canister on standby if your doing a weekend project. October 27, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great support After a few months I had problems with my heater....I know nothing about heaters as this was my first. Being able to scan and then down load a repair manual was amazing. In no time my garage was back to warm. I wish all the equipment I bought had that kind of support. You guys are doing it right January 5, 2015
