what gauge string do i use for the GT225

the nylon stringers come out of the heads when i weed grass at high speed?

I use LoNoiz .130-Inch-by-150-Foot Spool Commercial Grade Spiral Twist Quiet. It is awesome trimmer line! I use needle nose pliers to remove it from the trimmer head when nit needs replacing, as it is usually tight. But inserting new line is no issue at all!

Is this product worth the money and has anyone had to use the warranty ?

Asked by: Anonymous
Purchased this two years ago. It's easy to use, light weight and starts very easily every time. However last week I noticed some gas leaking. Found that the fuel line to the PCV valve was splitting. The user manual indicates that warranty is for five years including the fuel lines. The manual also indicates that fuel with 10% ethanol is fine. Took it to an authorized service center and they claimed that fuel system not covered by warranty because use with ethanol fuel. My choice was to argue about it or buy the part myself and install. Service center also said 3 week wait for service. Clearly they did not want to handle this, and I couldn't wait 3-weeks, so I bought the 3-hose fuel line assembly for $18 and installed it myself in 10 minutes. This is a great trimmer but you can't depend on the quality or warranty.

:Having trouble getting the gt-225 curved model started. Thought I followed directions. What could I be doing wrong ?

Use higher grade gas. One step up is 89 octane I think. On my old trimmer it made a world of difference.

Are these trimmers good for edging?

Asked by: Anonymous
no the curved head is difficult to get into position and you will have a hard time keeping string in it that's if you can get it started.

Starts most times without even using the choke and has plenty of power. It comes with several strips of pre-cut Echo line, enough oil to mix a gallon of gas, and some flimsy safety glasses. Trimmer head can be a little frustrating, but if you leave enough extra line sticking through in the middle you can grab it and pull it out. Like others have said, the line is prone to breaking off at the head. I've been using cheap line with zero issues so I think the Echo line is the culprit. My only complaint (minor) is the fact that the handle tends to twist around somewhat on the shaft no matter how much I tighten it. Overall I'm highly satisfied!

Gas models just last longer if they are maintained. I would recommend putting a Speed Feed head on this trimmer, as it makes trimming about 5 times quicker, but it takes some practice. It has never failed me yet. During the winter, I empty the gas out and run the motor until it's dry to protect the engine. I'm strongly thinking of getting an Echo gas leaf blower too. If you treat it right, this thing will serve you well. I have no problem starting it, but some shorter people may not have the arm length. You have to have some range of motion to pull the cord. Shorter people should consider something else.

The string head on the other hand? It is problematic at best. It uses 2-8" strings that you push through the head which grabs them for use. Unfortunately, the strings break almost immediately when used in high grass, near concrete or fence posts. I used up all but 2 of the bundle provided in about 15 minutes. I ordered a typical bump-head to replace the provided head. I expect the trimmer and new head to be a superb addition to my lawn equipment.

Many years ago I had a week eater with the headed loaded with string, but something always seemed to go wrong. I can load the strings on this in a flash and keep cutting. Even though brand new, it fired right up after pumping the primer bulb and about six pulls. Now it starts right up on the second pull. The .095" string is plenty strong, too. I did my entire front yard without having to replace any strings, and it just kept going. I have no doubt this trimmer will keep my lawn trimmed and edged for many years to come.

Great product, have used it about 4 times now since I have bought it and I love the quick connect string ends. They are a little pain to have to pre-cut but well worth it. The string that came with it wasn't quite as good as some that you can buy off the shelve. The string I bought to go with it was stronger and last longer on the trimmer. Easy start, 2 pulls and it cranks right up.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rapid Loader head is garbage Everything else about the trimmer is good quality, but the head is junk. I've read the directions repeatedly to ensure I'm loading the line properly, I only use ECHO line, and it still throws the line out of the head. One side is worse than the other, but the line lasts feet, not days. I've used this thing 3 times and used over 12 lines. I've adjusted technique so I can get about 8-10 feet out of a single line (remember only one side holds worth attempting), but by far this is the worst designed component I have ever used. Clearly ECHO never field tested this design as it is filled with flaws and poor engineering.
