Customer Questions & Answers

Rapid load feature?

Does this have the rapid load feature where you feed the line thru then twist (wind) to load?
Asked by: Anonymous
It has a rapid load head, but it's not the "Speed Feed 400" It's a completely different system. I didn't like it at first, but after using it Now I love it. It's a bit more work, but holds twice the line as the Speed Feed 400 and you can go to 105 diameter so you will use less.

What is the line diameter?

Asked by: Anonymous
You can use from 80 to 105 diameter line. What it is loaded with just throw away and get some Rino-Tuff line. It's the yellow line and use that. I use one trimmer with 95 line and one with 105.

Can this trimmer attachment take the Echo Heavy Duty Fixed Line head?

Asked by: ranchman55
I have to respectfully disagree with the Echo Company response. I just received my Pro Torque 17" Trimmer Part # 99944200545 and a Fixed Line Heavy Duty Trimmer Head part # 99944200220. They are NOT compatable. The gear box housing on the Trimmer is the same size diameter of the Fixed Line Trimmer Coupler (The device that slides onto the gear shaft and hold the trimmer head in place). The gear shaft is not long enough to allow for the supplied nut to have more than 3 threads make contact, making the safety split pin useless, as it won't fit. Also, because both gear box & coupler are the same exact size, when you secure the nut, it binds the gear housing to the coupler (effectively, the head won't spin). If you buy the fixed head with this trimmer, you will have to return it. As I will have to do tomorrow.

Pro Torque 17 in. Trimmer Attachment is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 43.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs better design. Long grass tangles easily The only major issue I have with the trimmer is the longer grass easily gets wrapped around the trimmer head and makes it bog down easily to the point it won't turn or spin and it takes quite some time to unravel. Grass that is shorter cuts fair and it seems that it slaps the grass rather than cut the grass. Have to go over the same area several times to get the trimming done. Kind of disappointed. I purchased several other attachments and they work fine.

It is easy to install, does a good job trimming and eliminates the need for another full sized trimmer and motor. I have had the product for several months and it has met all my expectations. I highly recommend it. Joe Gardner

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buy a stilh Bump knob is too big and is constantly sending string out. Ok for flat smooth fields but for what I'm using it for I hate it.I'm weedeating a hillside that is rocky, bumpy and uneven. If I'm not cautious I'll use a whole spool of string in 15 minutes

Rated 4 out of 5 by from More torque but less speed The pro torque attachment works great under high load situations such as tall thick grass but for small every day tasks it isn't completely necessary. The reason is that the trade off for more torque is less speed. Keep this in mind when purchasing. I like it because other than the difference in power it has a more sensitive response to the motor, it doesn't have to "wind" up the way a normal trimmer does. However because of the difference in speed while using the high torque attachment you'll have to keep the motor at slightly higher rpms to take care of the "lighter" stuff
