Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Stuff! I bought this 4-pack of 8W LED bulbs to install in a suspended lamp that sits less than 3 feet about our high dining table. The 60W incandescent bulbs generated heat and were annoying to our eyes, therefore an LED replacement that emits light from the sides was the right solution. In my opinion, these lamps generate better output than 40W bulbs, but slightly less than 60W. The color temperature is 3000K which is not as warm as standard incandescent but is still acceptable in most applications. The consumption is only 8W which is not only great for energy savings but also means they generate less heat (safe to touch even when ON for hours). Those are slightly taller than the equivalent incandescent, which was a concern as I didn't want the bulb to stick out beyond the shade, but it ended up being acceptable. A little more compact design would be appreciated. Check out the pics, these bulbs generate most of the light from the sides so check your fixture before buying. For example these would work perfectly in a table lamp or sconce. The same brand offers a cheaper option that directs the light to the top. I love them but I think they are a little overpriced still!
