Yes you could use hinges on this to make a folding workbench. Of course you should make sure that you use the proper hinge and screws for your particular application.

MY NEIGHBOR HAD BEEN TOLD THAT THIS BENCH WAS PARTICLE BOARD IN THE CENTER AND THE OUTSIDE WAS AN OTHER MATERIAL. IF THIS SO , WHAT ARE THE PROPORTION

Answer: 
The top and bottom of the bard are made of 3/8-inch super hard board that has been sanded and sealed. The center layer is 6/8-inch 45-pound density particle board. The layers are assembled in a 1:2:1 ratio (3/8:6/8:3/8) or an overall 1:1 ratio since the sum of the top and bottom layers equals the center.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by OK product Good for workbench, not so good for countertop. Took a lot of sanding had some wide gaps which needed to be filled with paraffin.I finished it with mineral oil and have had to resand and Refinish several times already. Think it will be OK for the long haul. August 26, 2015
