I installed this light in a bedroom. The bulb, the equivalent of 120 watts was way to bright for a bedroom. I went to Lowe's and bought a bulb the equivalent of 60 watts only to discover it was too small to be installed in this light that requires a twist type bulb with a large base. They had no large bulbs with low wattage. I suspect there are no large twist bulbs with lower wattage. You need to be prepared for that and to look into that or you may be, like me, stuck with a useless light.

We like the fixtures. When I opened the box I was surprised at how large the glass itself is. The on line photo's did not depict that. Actual dims are 6" across by 5" deep and the glass is 1/4" thick. However, that being said once I installed them we were very pleased with the appearance. Overall, for the money invested (purchased 5) we are very pleased. There just aren't that many options for purchasing lighting with built in switches these days but these met or needs perfectly.

I was replacing two 1950's original lamps...and they had to have a built in switch (like the originals) as installing a wall switch was not an option. These are perfect. Yes, the finish is painted, but for the price I expected that. I actually used an "oil rubbed bronze" paint on a light in our entry way and it looks great....plus you cannot tell unless you are really looking for it. No complaints about the switch, it works great and blends into the background well so it is not obvious. Do take note, these will come in a-la-carte packaging, not some fancy box (no big deal) and they use GU24 bulbs, not traditional type; since I was going with florescent or LED anyway, that was not a deal-breaker. We are very happy with these on either side of our fireplace and we purchased a similar looking dual sconce setup for the hallway that has a matching color and glass fixture. Not a lot of choices for this type of fixture (unless you spend big $'s) so we were thrilled to find these.

The "oil rubbed bronze" is actually painted on; it is not a live finish. There is also a little black switch underneath the lantern that you can't see in the photo. This kind of distracts from the authenticity. Pretty good looking sconce overall, however. I do recommend it, but with some reservations.
