Product Overview

Simple, yet capable, the PowerTIG 185 offers everything needed in way of an entry level AC/DC TIG welder. Yet, it fits in well in a small FAB shop, motorsports facility or garage where TIG is required. The 5-185 DC/20-185 AC amp range and 35% duty cycle of the unit gives you plenty of power for most average daily welding needs. Not much bigger than a large shoe box, the IGBT inverter design makes the unit compact, and sipping electricity. This unit design has been revamped to include new features such as 130-amp stick welding capability and post-flow control. The adjustable AC frequency and AC balance control provide a greater range of control while welding aluminum, and can improve appearance and weld ability on thin metals. Arc stability and control is among the best in its class. Because of its weight and size, it includes a convenient carry strap which allows it to be carried and used near the work area.

  • Ideal for hobbyist, light fabrication, off road, track, farm, and motorsport use
  • 185-amp AC/DC TIG, 130-amp DC sticks welding capability
  • Over temperature and over current warning/interrupt helps prevent damage to the unit
  • High frequency and lift start capability in TIG mode
  • Auto sensing dual voltage design features 120/240-volt operational capability

On 10/07/2016 the price of this welder was $853.75 overnight it jumped to $910 and some change now today 10/25/2016 its$937.57? That's a price increase of $83.82 in 18 days, it doesn't say anything was added to the package so what makes the price jump because I am really curious?

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Garbage Dont buy this welder almost 1000dollars en no pedal you not control your amperage and lift star contaminate your tungsten worfles in a/c witout a pedal October 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best bang I am professional welder for a living, I use a miller dynasty at work, picked this up for home use and side work. It is comparable to the miller but save you save 4000 dollars. Amazing arc stability on ac and enough adjustment on peramiters for any job. Huge plus is the 120/240 option, it is a must buy for any level welder. September 26, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Failed nearly instantly It "welded" a fraction of a second in tig hf mode, at a very low amp setting, before tripping the breaker of the circuit it was plugged into. After that, just turning the welder on tripped the breaker. Based on reviews I've seen, this was not entirely unexpected, and I may decide to give another one a try, not sure. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by PowerTIG 185DV TIG / Stick welder I am new at TIG welding but this machine is really new user friendly. Everything was included except the Argon bottle and tungsten electrodes. July 21, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor customer service I gave it 2 stars because I did not get to use it long enough to form a honest opinion. You better hope nothing goes wrong and you need to send it for warranty repair. I did some practicing with mine. Less than 30 minutes total time and on AC it would not strike a arc. Sent in in for repair in July and still no welder. December 30, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Powertig 185 AC/DC welder The Powertig 185 is a smooth welder. This welder is both AC and DC so you can weld aluminum and steel with it. The arc cone can be set to be narrow or wide depending on the job through the AC frequency setting. The puddle is well controlled and wets in really good. The high frequency start is clean and makes starting the weld really easy. The welder itself is pretty small with a nice strong handle for carrying around. I highly recommend this product. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by All of the features of a much bigger welder without all of the size and cost The Everlast 185 welder has all of the major features a welder would want. There are some more advanced features that are missing but most people won’t notice or care. It has AC balance, frequency and postflow. These three are the most important features for aluminum welding and this welder has them. I am very pleased with this welder and highly recommend it. January 9, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best retirement investment I've made Welding is too much fun and being able to easily cut my metal pieces for fabrication makes it a blast. If I knew retirement could be so enjoyable with a welder I would have easily retired sooner. Don’t bother looking at a blue or red machine. You can save a ton of money with this machine. I’m even making money doing jobs for other people. January 3, 2014
