Product Overview

Water heater and water tank failures can happen at any time, often without warning, and can cause substantial flooding and property damage if nobody is nearby to detect the leak right away. FloodMaster's Water Heater Leak Alarm and Automatic Shut-Off Systems are ideal for minimizing water damage when these failures occur. Simply install the FloodMaster valve to the feed water line for the water tank and place the wired (FM-094) sensor puck on the floor or in a pan near the pressure relief valve drain tube, or in a position where the leaking water would first appear. When the FloodMaster sensor detects leaking water, the system will automatically shut off the feed water intake and sound an audible alarm.

  • System is reusable – when the alarm sounds, fix the problem and reset unit for continued protection
  • Easy installation
  • Reduce or eliminate water damage and insurance claims
  • Made entirely of corrosion-free materials
  • Plugs in to a standard wall outlet (120 VAC)

Is the copper coupling that connects to the existing cold water supply line threaded or is it a solder only junction? I would hope it's threaded so that the necessary soldering can be done further from the coupling, in order to avoid heat damage to the solenoid/electronics that must be close to this coupling.

Does the puck have to sit flat? There is not enough room in the pan for it to sit flat.

Asked by: Gmtk
Yes it does. If you look at the bottom of the round sensor/puck, you ill notice two dimples. The sensor works based on continuity between these two sensors. Thus they both must lay flat so they are both in contact with the puddle created by the leak.

What happens when the power is out? Will the unit keep the valve open by default and only be able to close the valve when power is present?
Asked by: Bob
If the power supply is cut off the valve will remain in the same position it was in when the power went out. Another way to put this is that the valve both powers open and powers closed.

Floodmaster Water Heater Leak Detection System is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flood Master Excellent device to give you peace of mind and to prevent a major flood in your basement when your water heater begins to leak. In a sense, it is real cheap insurance to prevent water damage. I believe every water should be installed with a Flood Master!
