Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Flotec 1/2 hp submersible pump no control box needed This is the 4th Flotec stainless submersible we've bought. Two were 3/4 hp. But we're very pleased with all so far. One has been in use for many years and still supplies water to 3 homes. Our first 1/2 hp pump replaced the deep well jet pump that supplied our home. The submersible is vastly better...quiet, powerful and seems to use less electricity. Wiring is so much easier with the 2 wire system! The two 'hot' wires go to the 'switched' terminals on the pressure switch...two 'hot' wires from the 240 volt service go to the 'hot' terminals of the pressure switch, and the green goes to ground. No 'control box' to go bad [as they sometimes do]. I like the fact that the pump is stainless and plastic...nothing to corrode. Suggestion: use at least 2 torque arrestors several feet apart and/or plastic spacers to keep pipe and wires centered in the well. Otherwise, starting torque CAN rub the wires or pipe against the side of the well. My father-in-law had his submersible pump [brand unknown] stop working because the wires were completely severed. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by this was easy to install this product was easy to install , you had the pump , you had the barb fitting . I needed a check valve you didn't have I needed a brass nipple you didn't have . If your going to sell the pump you need to carry the fitting to be able to install it September 20, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Too weak, hasn't worked right. I installed two of these. The first one died after about a year and a half. The newest one has been not working for about two years. It kind of works, but is too weak to be adequate. If it's powered off, for about two hours it comes on and off, and then finally works 'normally'. It's not the pressure switch, or the pressure tank, both were changed, with no change in behavior. Also, it's a weakling. It can't get the pressure past 40 PSI, so I had to downgrade my pressure switch to work with this dud. The well is about 150 feet, maybe this item would work better with one more shallow, at least as far as maintaining pressure, but overall, it's a lousy item. Get something better, you'll be happier in the long run. July 31, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by I have installed my own shallow well pump before this one. I cannot find the diameter size of pipe that the discharge end of this pump accepts. I need this to know what diameter size pitless adaptor to purchase. Thank You May 26, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Think twice Our first pump lasted 25 years. It was a Tate pump which isn't made anymore. Bought this one and it lasted 18 MONTHS. December 16, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bob My well pump quit working late one night. I got up early and went to Home Depot to get a new pressure switch.(it's the first thing you should check also the cheapest fix). I replaced it and it didn't take long to realize that it wasn't what was wrong. I had to replace the pump. The overall job took about 4 hours and its definitely a 2 person job so don't try it alone. I just want to say thank you to Bob at my home store in Topsham. He was such a nice guy and very knowledgable(master plumber). I got there before he was there my first trip to get the switch and told one guy that if it wasn't the switch that I guess I had to replace the pump next. He said that I was more adventuress than him and he wouldn't try to do one himself. I watched a vid on YouTube so I kinda knew what was in store for me. Bottom line....Bob is THE MAN!!!! On a scale of 1-10.....a solid 7-8 doing this job but I saved $800 for 4 hours work. Worth it!!! April 13, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Im so angry right now I drove 3 hours round trip in a blizzard, bought this pump, I read on the box and it said 1 1/4" discharge which is what my old pump was. I get all the way home, open the box and its 1 1/2" discharge... February 13, 2014
