3/4 HP Thermoplastic Shallow-Well Jet Pump is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product has poor quality control. I bought this product to replace a burned up existing Flotec pump (burned up without reason). The only reason I bought another Flotec pump instead of something better was the fact that I did not want to have to change the plumbing for a different pump. The pump is listed having a 11/4" inlet and a 3/4" outlet. The same as my old pump. The pump I received had a 1" inch outlet. This caused me to change the plumbing anyway and the inlet is in a different location on the pump than my existing pump, so all the plumbing needed to be changed. This caused a trip to the store to get all the needed fittings (more time wasted). Once installed the pump was found to be leaking from the fitting not being tightened for the pressure cutoff switch. The hose needed to be removed and the fitting tightened to seal. Luckly there was plenty of extra hose to allow for cutting the end off. The hose for the pressure switch on the new pump is just pressed onto a barbed fitting on both ends. This is the same poor design that the failed pump had. I have had the hose pop off on the old pump without warning and had to wire wrap the hose ends to keep them from coming off. I did the same on the new pump to avoid an issue. The retaining nut for the pressure switch was also loose. I am very disapointed with the quality of this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pump in my opinion I bought this pump from Home Depot in 1998 and it has performed flawlessly supplying water to my residence on a daily basis. During a flood the open drip proof motor was submerged but this unit survived, is still in service. The pressure switch lasts about seven years and must be replaced as the contacts become fouled. The initial pressure setting of the switch is a bit low and can be adjusted upward five psig to around a 20 to 35 psig range. I have shopped around and looked at competing pumps and I don't agree with the negative comments. I plan to buy another and rebuild the motor, seals and bearing, keep the existing as a spare.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Kind of a joke I've had this pump about a month now. It replaced a Craftsman 3/4 HP pump that was in service for about 6 years (the housing cracked).... and of course, I'm basing my opinion on the old pump's performance. This pump is a joke. I set my pressure switches at 40/60. The old Craftsman had enough to water the lawn and fill a bathtub while maintaining 50+ PSI and occasionally kicking off at 60 PSI. This pump (with the same sprinkler) can hardly get up to 20 PSI when just watering the lawn.... sometimes I have to turn off the sprinkler just to build enough pressure to make it rotate. Of all the pumps I have had installed, this 3/4 HP is performing worse than a cheap 1/3 HP. Save your money and get a real pump. It will pay off in the long-run!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Product I purchased this pump after a 1/2 hp craftsman pump failed. As it was the middle of the week and we had no water I was forced to replace it immediately. I saw the poor reviews but as I didn't find a comparable pump that was rated highly, I bought it anyways. Installation was easy enough but after getting it in place and running, I have a leak from the impeller housing next to the motor. All my connections are dry but the pump itself was leaking. Horrible product. The sad thing is that as I'm still in the same boat, I have to return this one and buy the last one they had on the shelf and hope that one doesn't leak.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extreme Relaibility and Performance We have about 70 of these pumps, over a ten year period. We have never had one fail, they run off and on daily. All are working as of now. There was about ten a few years ago that had baffle issues, which reduced the GPM output, but after a ten minute replacement of these, they worked fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from abused everyday keeps going I bought this pump new in 2012 and regularly run sprinklers with it over night 8 hours plus run time then my kid runs the water daily playing in the yard the cracked housing stories are true i cracked mine on the inlet and outlet side over the years changing out pressure tanks the key is to pipe dope the threads then tape and pipe dppe the tape and tighten only as tight as your hand can turn it great pump looks like a real pump compared to the tiny football looking ones hd is stocking now

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bought one yesterday despite reviews... As others have said, not the best, at least initially... installed it and had leaks at fittings. Not the first time I have worked with plastic pumps/pipe. Instructions and warning labels on pump state "do not over tighten fittings".... of course they do not bother to give any torque specs so it's subjective as to what is too tight... Installed pump with fittings torqued in fairly tightly, but not monkey tight. It leaked it inlet an outlet. Time for another trip to Home Depot to buy all the necessary pvc again. This time I tightened them REALLY TIGHT and all looks ok. If you're going to install one of these use some unions that you can unscrew in order to save yourself time/money when it leaks upon installation. On the plus side the motors runs smooth and it does move a good amount of water!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pump Failed after 3 months use We bought the 3/4 hp pump in July 2012 for a summer cottage. The well head is at 10' and the well depth is about 25'. Installation was pretty straight forward. The pump worked adequately even with a well that's got to be decades old and has poor water supply. In the fall of '12 we shut down the cottage. I removed the drain plug and blew out the pump with compressed air and filled it with antifreeze. This spring, I put everything back together and primed the pump. After about 10 minutes I noticed a slow drip. After 15 minutes the drip turned to a good p. From there, all of the water the pump produced was coming out of the impeller housing. Ironically, I am in the plastics industry and should have known better, but economics ruled at the time of purchase. Home Depot replaced the pump, no questions asked. Just beware of inferior quality of this pump. Other than that, I'm real happy with it.
