I ordered the pit online and it arrived at the store on a skid. You will need either a pickup truck or will need to take a couple of trips. The stone wall comprises of 24 decorative stone blocks comparable in size/weight to a normal cinder block. Then there are 14 stone caps (2 extra). So there is a lot of weight here when transporting it. Building it is very simple and took my time to make sure I didn't cut any corners. Just follow the video instructions given on the HD site. Digging and leveling the base took the majority of the time due to some trial and error. No biggie. It called for 6 cubic feet of stone/gravel overall. I used 9 cubic feet in all and used pea gravel. Now comes the real work - building some landscape around the pit. This pit is sturdy and should hold up over time. Happy with my purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by BeeGee So far we are VERY pleased!
My wife and I really like the outcome of putting this in. It looks great, but as of yet had no chance to "light a fire". Ordering on-line and the delivery were hassle free and timely. The size is what sold me and it does look great assembled (IOHO). With a large wooded area around us, limbs are constantly falling and though we have a fireplace (which we use a lot in the winter) it will be nice to enjoy a fire outside when desired. Only draw backs are that the directions are "sketchy" (and feel I am a pretty good DIYer who reads those directions) and it is heavy (which I expected). Would certainly recommend.

I just finished this fire pit this weekend and it looks great. It is tought to get the stones exactly 24" from the center pin to make the circle perfect. you need to get the bottom pavers perfect so that the cap pavers on top line up since they are cut to line up with each other. But so far the pit looks great, only time will tell if it holds up to the weather. I dug out 5-6 inches of the ground 70" diamaeter and filled in 2"-3" of modified stone and then 1-2" of sand to level out the first layer of blocks. Looks great and it is a signficant size, so it does not look like a little wishing well in the back yard. Love it!! It is pricy for 36 blocks and a steel ring however!

Seems a little expensive for what you get, but it does look very good once assembled. The metal ring is not stainless so it will deteriote over time and the top stones are only 2" thick and may crack/split in the winter. Only time will tell, but they did send 3 extra of these top stones which I'll keep around just in case.
I'm not sure why they don't make this a "complete" kit with the adhesive and pea gravel. I added 3" of drainage rock under the pea gravel and an 18" deep 1ft diameter hole in the center full of drainage rock so there will be no water laying in the pit. Looks and works very well, but all together I've got about $650 into and that seems a little high to me.

This fire pit was very easy to assemble. It was dropped off at more doorstep and a couple hours later it was completed. Great buy for the money.
