Customer Questions & Answers

Can you still open a door or window once this product has been installed?

We have an old sliding glass door that needs to be replaced, but since we can't do that, I'm thinking of installing this film. But once I have it on the door, will we still be able to open and close it? Or once the product is on, is the window or door out of use until it is taken off?
Asked by: halfbreed
No , you can not open the doors for use .

How easy is the tape to remove?

Asked by: Cafea1a
Frankly to do this job the manufacturers need strong moisture resistant adhesives. So if you want it to be easy to remove you are asking for the improbable, or something that will fail and leave you unhappy with the product. I have had no problems with residue in my home. However I have had moisture induced failures of the tape attached to a painted surface. It is also in a very humid environment with potted plants.

This will be the fourth year we have used this product and have never had any problems. We like that it is so clear and stays intact until we take it down . We have fourteen grandchildren who are always around, and it holds up to there now and then pushing on it .I don't understand why there are so many differences in the performance of this product. But it works for our patio doors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from this product was huge during the brutal winter last year. I remember the xmas blizzard2010, in NYC very vividly. snowed in...freezing and several drafts coming into my apt. Luckily, i purchased multiple plastic sheets. after a couple of hours I had 4 (6ftx8ft)windows and my balcony doors(6ftx10ft.) sealed for the winter. Amazing difference right away. sealed perfectly- and with ease! the plastic is super clear- that once applied- is hard to notice. easily cut 20% off my national grid/gas bill! * anyhow,I just purchased some more for this winter. and once again - put it up in a snap! im ready for the cold-)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I would not recommend this product The plastic doesn't stick to the tape. I've used other similar products that worked MUCH better. I will not purchase this again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money on this brand. Pay the money and go 3M. This kit does not adhere well and I removed it on day one. I have been covering my patio door for 9 years. I have used 3M without an issue. I have tried HD Frost King and ACE Hardware brand in that time and they were both a complete failure.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Idea I ordered this to cover most of my drafty windows, I don't mind fresh air but I do mind the smoke from chimneys that although are not close by, it seems to stick around my apartment, being asthmatic you can guess my first winter in this apartment is no fun. It must be the geography of the town and the fact that we don't get a lot of wind around here. I do recommend that you allow some "give" on windows that get full sunlight through most of the day (that we do get a lot) because it will shrink the plastic and start to loose it's grip on the glue, luckily for me I had left over 2 inches on the sides and had glue tape left over.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The non-stick type of tape. Nice piece of plastic. Unfortunately, the tape is WORTHLESS. It's less than half an inch wide, which absolutely won't provide enough surface area to support a sheet of plastic 84" x 110", especially if there's a draft coming through the window. Here's the logical issue: If I'm buying an insulation sheet for my window, it's probably because the window isn't sealed very well, which means there's a draft coming through, which means that the insulation sheet I buy needs to come with tape that is sticky enough to be DRAFT RESISTANT. But Frost King's product ISN'T, which means I just WASTED MY MONEY. Thanks, Frost King. I'll be returning this tomorrow and picking up a 3M product instead.
