Answer:
Yes. I had to cut mine to fit the window seat. I cut it with a large pair of fabric shears and it was really easy to do. If you need a perfectly straight edge you might need to use better tools than that, but it won't fall apart. It's dense.

Would this work for professional packing material?

I'm looking for lightweight material to pack a 3"x3" gap in a product for sale. It would need to look professional (i.e. clean-cut edges when cut, uniform color, remain intact in transit without breaking up etc). Does anyone have any strong feeling either way as to whether this item might serve this purpose? Thanks in advance

Thank you for your question. This is an open cell polyurethane foam and it could be used for this application. You would need a very sharp knife to make clean-cuts.

Thank you for your question. This is an open cell polyurethane foam. Open cell foam acts like a sponge when it gets wet; it will absorb water. The multipurpose foam has an average density of 1.5 pounds which is excellent for pillows, chairs, benches, etc cushion foam.

For your application I do not believe its being water resistant matters I believe that to mean that it absorbs water but you are not looking for it to be submerged anyway rather beneath the inflatable hot tub. I think the more important question would be does or could it mold? I was unable to find any information that would reveal the answer to that question either way. Depending on the size of the hot tub I would personally recommend one of those rubber stall mats they measure 4 x 8 and can purchased for around thirty dollars. The mats are designed for horse stalls and will not mold, rot, etc. and are I believe 1" thick providing plenty of cushion Read Less

Answer:
It is polyurethane foam and like all foams I have encountered will soften sound waves. Not being sure of the exact application you have in mind I cannot recommend its use one way or another from my own hands on experience with the material ( seat cushion on top of a cedar chest, back seat cushion on golf cart)

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 181 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I needed. Bought 4 sheets of this to make cushions for an old wicker patio set. I was concerned at first thinking 3" wouldn't be thick enough, but it worked out great in the end. (I did cut plywood to fit the seats before placing the foam, so it wouldn't sink between the seat rods.) August 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good price & good quality for my window seat project! Much better pricing than craft stores for this product! August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product, exactly as advertised This foam pad was just what we needed to complete a pallet sofa for a new ministry class at our church. I wanted to create a comfortable lounging area where the girls could unwind and visit. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value! I had priced foam elsewhere, found nothing this good. I bought two and used them to make a mattress for the kids to use for camping. It was a great price, and it is nice and soft. There was a little discoloring, probably from the packaging, on one piece, but it was nothing major. I was pleased that it didn't smell chemically, and it uncurled itself easily. June 7, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Futon fluffer upper! Bought this to put under my futon mattress where everyone sits. Helped to add my cushioning. Perfect size for full sized futon. August 30, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 3 in. Thick Multifoam I ordered 2 roles for the bunks in my camper. The standard mats are only 3 in thick, and since I weigh 230lbs and I sleep on them sometimes, I needed more cushion. When these arrived I tried them by themselves and they have nice cushion, but added to the bunk with the original mat, they are almost as comfortable as my custom queen mattress I put in the master bedroom of the RV. I will be buying a second set for the upper bunk for when our grown boys join us camping. The only reason for 4 stars is the work I have to do to get them sized to the bunk. They are 1 in. shy in length, not an issue, and 3 inches shy on width. The bunk house is cut at a 45 degree angle at the entrance, after trimming I had plenty to fill in width with 2 different pieces so there are 4 pieces altogether now, I will have to glue them to make putting on a sheet easier. Otherwise the way the bunkhouse is designed, the walls would have kept them in place. I took the idea from another reviewer and made my cuts with an electric carving knife and it worked great.
