Customer Questions & Answers

why not 240 Volt?

The specifications on this page state that the timer is rated up to 277 volts. Is there a reason it couldn't substitute for a single pole thermostat that controls 240 Volt heating? If it can't do 220/240 volt, why is it rated at 277 Volts?
Asked by: Enqurer
Enqurer, Great question. This device is only rated for use with single phase power which is typically 120VAC or 277VAC, 240VAC power is not single phase. A single pole thermostat does not control the 240V heating but turns on and off a contactor (relay) that in turn handles the 240V power. If you are unsure about your electrical power configuration contact a please licensed electrician. If you have any further questions, please feel free to respond or contact us through phone or email.
