Will this dw fit in a cut-out space of 33.75"?

The spec list states 34" is required, but it also states the assembled height is 32.35".

is it quiet?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yep. Very quiet.the quiestest dishwasher we've ever had. (we have owned about 5) It has a full blanket wrap for quietness, and even the kickplate has insulation against sound. I will add...We recently had hardwood floors put in. The installer was just going to install UP TO our old dishwasher. I asked, what happens when we get a new dishwasher down the line? Are we supposed to rip up flooring or remove counter tops to get it out?! What if it leaks? How will we know if the water can't run out? It will run under the new hardwood? So we removed our old dishwasher, had the installer put flooring under where it would be. THEN we had to look for a dishwasher to fit the shorter space. THIS ONE DOES. We had tried another "hidden controls", but that vented under the top of the counter! So GE replaced it with this model. PERFECT! It vents out the front, which makes so much more sense. Washes GREAT, and is QUIET! It has less bells and whistles than the hidden controls type, but we didn't need all the extras anyway....it was confusing.. and we just want dishes to get clean. This dishwasher has PLENTY of washing action with a strong spray (but not too strong). I would recommend this washer to everyone.

If the heigth is of the dish washer is (32-3/8") why do I need to cut out an openning of 34" in hiegth??

A normal counter height would take a 33+ high washer, installed under normal height kitchen counters. This dishwasher is 32+ high, about an inch shorter than a standard dishwasher because it can be installed after hardwood floors have been put in. We recently had hardwood floors put in. The installer was just going to install UP TO our old dishwasher. I asked, what happens when we get a new dishwasher down the line? Are we supposed to rip up flooring or remove counter tops to get it out?! What if it leaks? How will we know if the water can't run out? 24 in. Front Control Dishwasher in Stainless Steel with Stainless Steel Tub is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great if you have space limitations This really is a good dishwasher and does what it is supposed to do - gets the dishes clean. Lots of reviews complain about the smaller capacity and yes, it is smaller inside, but here's the deal... If you have a standard size opening for a dishwasher, then this is probably not your best bet because you can find a d/w that is bigger inside, more features, etc. for the same or less $. But, if like us, you have space issues you have two choices 1) Remodel your kitchen or 2) learn to live with a smaller d/w. This d/w has the same width and depth (24") as most, but is shorter (32.35" vs approx 34"). Our wood floor was put in after the cabinets/counters were installed so we lost some height - we had 33.25" to work with. We literally had to cut the old d/w out, then build up the floor underneath to be level. This was one of only three d/w's I could find to fit in the space we had. Yes, I think it's a bit pricey for being a smaller, pretty basic d/w but compared to the cost of remodeling, it was a good deal. As for the smaller size, my old d/w's racks were 20x20 on top, 20x22 on the bottom. This one is 20 x 17.5 and 20 x 19.5, so I lost 2.5" depth on each. Doesn't sound like much, but it is noticable. It also has less clearance between the bottom and top racks and between the top rack and the top of the d/w. It does not have alot of options, but really - how often do I use anything besides "normal wash?" For me, it wasn't worth spending more money for features I don't really need. In summary, if you have a standard size d/w opening - keep shopping. If not, this is a good option (and there are very few options!). It works well, is efficient, fairly quiet, and most importantly, the dishes are nice and clean with no spots. What else can you ask for?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst dishwasher I have ever owned. So cheaply made, I've had to replace parts over and over.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice appliance I am in love with this new dishwasher. We've been a year without one, and we've had this one only a week. We bought a Maytag stainless interior one and Home Depot was kind enough to take it back as we did not like it. We figured out what to look for: dba sound was not a huge issue as there is no set standard, it needs to vent in the front (many do not and then it makes it "quieter" and the dishes are wet) and the other feature was no "soil sensor". That last one just seems like one more thing to break and it can make the cycle run too long. THis one is quiet, cleans OK, actually good, and the heating element does dry it OK too. No dishwasher is going to do the magic we want, but this one is fantastic so far! It is a bit smaller size inside, nice stainless inside though. I

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cleans Great The GLDA690PBB has done a great job in the first month. It is a little small for my family, but my kitchen would not allow a larger machine.(1950 house with 22 inch depth counter tops) The installation was good. It does a great job of cleaning and we have not used the heated dry, yet things are dry unless they have a lip that holds water. I would recommend this machine for smaller families and kitchens that have 22-23 inch deep counter tops.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too small The salesman helped me find this on the Home Depot website after not finding what I wanted in the store, so in the products defense, I never saw it in person until it was installed in my kitchen. Well, it's very, very small inside. The top rack holds 10 less glasses than my old dishwasher and I can't get a 5 quart pot and a large strainer on the bottom rack at the same time. Just guessing, but I'd estimate the top rack to be about a 26" square. Not nearly big enough for a family of 6. However, it looks very nice, the stainless steel tub is what I wanted and it washes just fine. For a small family or people who don't do a lot of cooking and eating at home, this would probably be just fine. I just wish that I could return it, but I've already payed for the installation once and don't really want to do it again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't like this dishwasher This is our second dishwasher of the same product and I don't know if it's the detergent we are using but it's not washing the dishes properly. We use the Cascade Complete and when the dish washer stops the dishes still has food on it. The soap is dried up and covering some of the dishes causing me or someone else to rewash the dishes by hand. I wouldn't recommend this dishwasher to anyone.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Please don't buy this dishwasher I bought it when Home Depot had a special going during the holidays, and it just doesn't clean dishes well at all. Even though the instructions say don't pre-wash your dishes, you have to if you want them to be clean. We've had three repairmen out, and they all say the water inside this dishwasher cannot stay hot enough because there's no heating element to keep the water hot, and if you don't have hot water, you don't get clean dishes. We even use the hot start feature to no avail. I sincerely wish we had selected another dishwasher.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Small, and poor design The dishwasher was purchased because it would fit in 33inch tall rough opening. When purchasing it, nowhere in the description did it say it was a small apartment like model, in fact it says it is a tall tub, which I took to mean it was a normal size dishwasher, it is not! Besides the small short racks, the racks them self are of poor design, not conducive of convenient storage, with partition prongs that bend easily, racks that don't slide well, and extension bars that must be manually pushed back before closing the doors, it has a cheep feel about it. I will say it is quieter than my older dishwasher, but I would gladly trade noise for convenient storage. it does an adequate job of cleaning the dishes, however because the unit does not have a built-in disposal, you need to clean most of the debris off by hand anyway. All in all I would not recommend this product to anyone, especially to someone with more than two people in their immediate family.
