Product Overview

Breathe new life into interior spaces with soft white light from these GE Energy Smart BR30 LED Bulbs (3-Pack). Ideal for recessed and track lighting fixtures, each floodlight furnishes 700 lumens of evenly distributed light (no dark spots or glares) and retains its 2700K color temperature even when dimmed. The medium-base bulbs screw into standard-sized sockets for easy installation and use just 10 watts of power each, producing light equivalent to that of a 65 watt incandescent bulb but much more energy efficient and longer lasting—perfect for hard-to-reach sockets that are frequently left on.

  • Brightness: 700 lumens
  • Estimated yearly energy cost: $1.32 (based on 3 hours/day, 11¢/kWh; cost depends on rates and use)
  • Life: 22.8 years (based on 3 hours/day)
  • Light appearance: 2700K (soft white)
  • Energy used: 10 watts (equivalent to a 65 watt BR30 incandescent light bulb)
  • Lumens per watt: 70
  • Uses 83 percent less energy compared to a standard incandescent light bulb
  • Ideal for use in recessed can and track light fixtures
  • Great for use in kitchens, living rooms, family rooms, bedrooms, hallways and more
  • BR30 reflector design directs light where it is needed
  • LED technology is a prudent choice for hard-to-reach fixtures, as its long life expectancy keeps replacement chores to a minimum

Customer Questions & Answers

can i use these for outdoor use such as at my front porch recessed fixture and my recessed fixture at my garage soffits?

in your specifications you list these lights as indoor/outdoor, however, in your product overview you do not state that these lights are to be used outdoors. I would like clarification on whether I can use these outdoors or not in my recessed fixtures.

65W Equivalent Soft White BR30 Dimmable LED Light Bulb (3-Pack) is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Recommended for Dimming I just installed these dimmable LED bulbs above our fireplace and they work fine at full on. I bought them for their ability to dim but was quickly disappointed upon dimming these bulbs. As they dim from full on they quickly begin to flicker and it becomes more noticeable the darker you adjust. I thought maybe it was just one of the bulbs so I removed all but one and tested them individually and each one flickers the same way every time. Going back to incandescent bulbs until they can get this right. Great concept...lousy execution. To be fair, the packaging does state, 'Dimming performance may vary'. These are going back Home Depot.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bad LED Flood light Bought 6 of these about 1.5 yr ago, after about 6 months 1 started going on and off, tried it in other sockets and same thing. A couple days ago the second started the same thing just replaced it with standard flood. And of course I cannot find the receipt. Package says last 22.5 yrs guaranteed 5 yrs.. Todays price is $45.00 for a pack of 3, an estimated savings of $1.20 per year that just is not good. $15.00 to save $1.20 WOW.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 5 of 24 are dead or flickering after 1 year Bought 8 3 packs. Five are flickering on/off, or are completely dead. Will return, but am worried about the rest. ~20% fail rate for bulbs that have a 22.8 yr lifetime claim is troublesome. Might be a bad batch, but still disappointing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bulbs started to flicker off after a few months of service. Bulbs are expensive and after a few months started to flicker off and on constantly. A real pain since the main reason for purchasing these was to avoid having to change bulbs in a high kitchen ceiling.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't last a year I replaced my incandescent bulbs with LED over the past year. I bought 7 of these GE bulbs and in the past few months I've had to replace 4 of them. They flicker on and off. Of course I went with a different brand since 4 of 7 GE bulbs have stopped working properly, I'm sure more will quit soon too. We'll see how the cree do. It's horrible to pay such an outrageous price with the hopes of not having to replace again for 20 years, and then to have to just throw them out in less than a year.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lights fine. Well, let's not get carried away here... It's just a light bulb and if you're looking for just a led light bulb then you will probably be fine with this one. However, it says it's dimmable... I would beg to differ. I find the dimming function to be inconsistent and spotty. It would dim well for one evening and the next time at the appx same place on the dimmer switch it would be full blast or off. My ceiling takes 6 of these floods so it wasn't just one. I swapped to a different brand, and so far so good. If it's just a bulb you're after I'm sure these are fine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not ready for primetime I have these installed on a circuit with a Lutron LED dimmer switch. These bulbs dim great, that is not the problem, the problem is they noticeably buzz at every dim level. One of the bulbs died after two months. They might work better and last longer on a non-dimmed circuit. LED technology still has a long way to go. They cost $10 for a 2 pack which was the only good thing, but now you know why they were on sale.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy - high failure rate I have a home with over 50 recessed lighting fixtures. We decided to switch to LED bulbs to save energy, and reduce frequency of replacement. Initially happy with light color and brightness however, we started having some of the bulbs start blinking randomly. We move the culprit to another fixture, problem moved with the bulb. So far we have experienced a 40% failure rate. Now replacing with compact fluorescents. Too bad, I like the technology, but failure rate almost doubles the cost of these, and they are already expensive.
