I have been holding off changing all my lights for the house to LED to wait for two things. One is price and the other is quality. These light fit both things. They are bright and look as good as the old type C-9's.

Very pleased with the appearance and with low energy usage. Beautiful, bright bulbs about 2" long bring back memories of my childhood 60 years ago. Very low energy and virtually no heat output. Plastic clip integrated with the base helps position the bulbs in the desired direction -- works well on wire branches of an artificial tree, but may be a bit small for branches on a natural tree. Bulbs are shatter-proof plastic and can be removed to replace an LED. Spare LED and fuse included in the package. More expensive than incandescent mini lights, but larger size requires fewer lights for the tree and energy savings over several years that I expect to use them should more than make up for the difference.

Curb Appeal: They look more like incandescent bulbs than any other LED bulb I have seen. They don't have that neon look that a lot of other LED bulbs have. These scream Christmas much more than other LED lights. Brightness: They are much brighter than most other low to mid range Christmas strands. I have seen brighter bulbs on other light strands, but they cost significantly more than these. Longevity: I have had 6 strands of these lights for 3 years in Ohio. I had one bulb out this year when we went to put them up. It was easy to replace with the bulbs that come with the set. A couple of the little plastic hooks on the lights have broken off, but I abuse them pretty hard. The bulbs are plastic so they don't break when you inevitably drop them. It is nice piece of mind because I have kids who break everything and its nice they have to work a little harder to break these. Overall: These are exactly when I'm looking for in Christmas lights. They are perfect.

We bought this string to use as back-up/replacement bulbs for ones in our existing strings which have gone out. Any amount of moisture, it seems, causes the lead wires to corrode and break. Here in the PNW, outside in Winter means moisture, so it's a bad combination. Some bulbs didn't even last one season. The price on these isn't too bad, but the hope is that, with them being LEDs, they'll last much longer than incandescent bulbs. Because of the metal corrosion problem, that simply is not the case. I don't recall ever having any issues with the actual leads on the non-LED bulbs, but they, of course, burned out in far less time because of the filaments. Once they switch to a different metal type for the leads in these LED bulbs, these should last much, much longer.

The GE LED 50 lights per strand are not as bright as we had hoped they would be. We ordered and placed on our two trees approximately 18 strands of llights. In particular, we experienced problems with the white globes falling off! We then had to tightened every globe and the lights had already been placed on the trees. One strand did not work and had to be replaced. Cust Svc was very helpful with this.

Wanted old fashioned ceramic C9 lights this year for a little throw back look. But didn't want the wiring issues and electric bill that comes with running 300 of those bulbs - about 2,100 watts vs less than 20 watts for LED ones. About $5 a day difference in electricity cost - CA Tier 3 for 6 hours per day. Also liked the 8" spacing These come very close to the classic C9 ceramic look, and I was very happy with them. Plus hard plastic meant no broken bulbs, none out, and performed well in heavy winds and rains.

Over the past 3 years I have bought 10 strings, and I've had 5 of them go out completely or get incredibly dim. We've changed fuses to no avail. My pro installers trouble-shot them and had zero luck. I'm incredibly disappointed. Also, GE has this 5-year limited warranty. BUT if you call them to tell them what is going on, they want you to trouble-shoot everything all over again with them on the phone. I can't do that when they are on my house, and I tested them before they went up. They lasted 2 weeks, and half the lights on my house are so dim, I can't see them. GE was a misery to deal with. Talked to a supervisor, and she ended up taking a report, and stated that I would hear something very soon. I haven't heard anything back. I really loved the way they look, if only they lasted. Terrible quality!! And the company doesn't replace them easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good "old school look" with "new school" LED technology Being a blue-blood New Englander, but living in VA, I wanted to put up the same style lighting I had as a kid, i.e., the C9 bulbs. But I also wanted the lower electric bill (I did say I'm a New Englander so that means cheap...I mean parsimonious). These bulbs fit the bill, no pun intended...they are reasonably well made and hang easily (as easily as Xmas lighting does, that is). Pretty good value for the quality lights--they have that smooth look and big bulb form factor, and they seem relatively robust enough to not break while swinging them into each other while I stood on my ladder hanging them and letting the string dangle.
