Customer Questions & Answers

this box you showed me, not much help . Is there wire with it ? how do you mount the wire? is there a thermostat to turn it on and off?

Asked by: Anonymous
Best to download the manuals from the Home Depot or GE website to see and better understand how these are installed. The need either a low or high voltage feed (depending on which switch you need) to monitor the appliance (say A/C, Electric ovens, Pool, Spa, etc.) and they also need a 120 ac current hookup as well to power the unit. There is no wire with it just a sealed control board. You have to mount the unit to your local city electrical codes which might require conduit depending on the load and location (inside or out). There is no thermostat. It is monitor of the power draw from the Genny and it tells the Genny computer which order you set as a priority to run the appliances you hook these up to. Up to eight priorities can be set.

Hello This is Tangelo from the How-To Community! Home Depot does carry the low voltage roof de-icing cable either on the website (see link below) or at the store, and they come in various lengths. I hope this helps, if you have any more questions you can find me on our website at

Customer Reviews

Low Voltage Module for Briggs & Stratton and GE Home Standby Generators is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great approach to managing what you want to run vs. have to run Liked how this whole new approached is worked out. I didn't know enough to go with one, dual, low voltage unit for my 2 A/C units. I went with 2 separate ones thinking they needed to be in 2 different areas but they didn't. But very good setup to manage the system assuming it works. We will see the 1st time the power goes off.
