I am considering buying a double oven like this; however, I have been concerned that preheat times in the new build styles are much slower than open element ovens and will be much less energy efficient.

Hi Ed,
I am happy to help. Preheat time varies according to oven type. This applies to ranges and wall ovens.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 193 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Beware Have another version of this oven. Control panel Overlay film has been replaced twice and has peeled off again. Now GE indicates they no longer make the overlay and you have to buy a completely new control panel for hundreds of dollars. And my oven is only 5 years old! Even the extended warranty will not cover as it is "cosmetic". Buy another brand which supports their products and doesn't leave their customers out to dry. September 3, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Worst GE Product ( Microwave/oven combo unit) PT970 After 3 years of use, paint inside microwave is peeling off, brown and rusty, can't use it anymore. GE cust relations says that it is cosmetic problem and can't assist me. Never again any appliance from GE February 14, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it We absolutely love this oven. Great features and it works great. Very quiet. October 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great features! I LOVE all the new features my new oven has!!! It is so easy to use and cooks food perfectly. The convection features are much easier to use than I thought they would be. However, the steam cleaning did not work as well as I'd hoped and the high-heat cleaning didn't do a great job either. The ovens look beautiful and cook great though so I'm happy with them. September 24, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by It doesn't work. The repair tech is scheduled to come next week, but getting that scheduled was an exercise. I couldn't schedule online, I had to talk to someone. My oven won't hold a temperature. She wanted me to adjust the thermostat myself. I did that, but it still won't hold a temperature. If the tech can fix this, I'll change my rating. It is interesting that I got the email asking me to review this product just a couple of days after I requested service, yet before GE had a chance to fix it. September 26, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty Oven but unreliable Simple controls, good looks, but have had to call for service three times because the circulating fan in the top oven keeps burning out. The oven is only five years old, and self-cleaning has had to be used only three times (we're careful about splatters) - we use the ovens only for big roasts, pastry and cakes and bread - and not more than once a week - the barbecue is used far more often, with no troubles. Having two ovens with one control unit is a blessing when the entire clan gets together or a turkey is in one and pies in the other. Our neighbor has the same oven, and uses hers far more often - with never a problem, so we just got a lemon - but an expensive one, and GE does not acknowledge that the problem is theirs, not ours. The guarantee is worthless. March 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stylish with great features Works (cooks) great and very functional - Fit and finish are perfect. September 23, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not so good Bought and had installed in May of 2016. Clock has not worked correctly after three visits and replacements of circuit board. Oven temp also is not working correctly. Took over an hour to bake a tray of muffins. Hoping for new unit as this one is not good September 20, 2016
