Customer Questions & Answers

The tank is very wobbly

I installed the tank as instructed but tank is very wobbly..back & forth & side to side. No leaks. The metal washer followed by wing nut is not getting it. Afraid to over tighten. Can't be right. BTW..will be replacing seat as others have suggested.
Asked by: Gpa
Gpa, It sounds like the rubber gasket is not aligning to the lock-nut. Make sure the ridges on the gasket are matching up to the ridges on the lock-nut. Also the gasket should be put on the lock-nut the turning the tank onto the bowl. Do not place the rubber gasket on the bowl. If gasket was installed as mentioned, you can also do is the following to ensure the tank is sitting correctly. Using your forearm to push tank into the bowl; this will give you more bolt remove to allow for you to tighten the wingnut. Make sure you don’t tighten the wingnut completely. Move to the opposite side and do the same. As you go from side to side this motion is allowing the tank to fit into place on the bowl. Making that gap between bowl and tank being less than 1/4 of an inch. Remember you cannot have the tank and bowl making complete contact. This will cause the tank or bowl to crack due to it being porcelain. Hopefully this helps Should you have any additional questions you can reach a Home Depot Glacier Bay agent at 877-527-0313. Thank you for reaching out to us, NAMCE.

my present commode shows 11" to the tank bolts the specs says 12" rough in will I have a problem on hookup?
Asked by: marie
Marie, Thank you very much for your question. If you have verified measurement for your present commode as 11 inches, then yes, you would have an problem as our unit would measure to be 12 inches for rough in. We hope this helps you and if you have any further questions please contact our partners at The Home Depot at 1-877-527-0313. -Regards, JRL with NAMCE-Glacier Bay

Cannot get toilet seat off to change. Seriously. Not regular caps that cover bolts, original seat that came with toilet

Tried everything, weird bolt things below, cannot loosen and trying to pry plastic covers off is lifting plastic rods out of ceramic columns. Am very frustratetd.
Asked by: sara
Unless they've changed it (I got mine a couple years ago) I just used a screwdriver to pop the caps and used a slot screwdriver on top and pliers on the bottom to hold it tight and unscrewed the screws.

The tank is wobbly, and I don't want to overtight the bolts. Do you have a replacement gasket, something shorter?

Asked by: HF
HF, if we send you a replacement gasket it would be the same that you currently have. Its black with a hexagon shape in the inside. What it sounds like is that the rubber gasket is not aligning to the lock-nut. Make sure the ridges on the gasket are matching up to the ridges on the lock-nut. Also the gasket should be put on the lock-nut the turning the tank onto the bowl. Do not place the rubber gasket on the bowl. 2-piece 1.28 GPF High Efficiency Single Flush Round Toilet in White is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 739.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did the trick. The 5 stars goes mainly to the online purchase experience. Everything was pulled & ready on a Sunday afternoon in just a few hours (thankfully because this wasn't the plan I had for the afternoon). The toilet itself was one of the cheapest so obviously it can't be 5 stars but it definitely does the trick. I'm not crazy about the high seat, nor am I a squatter but my main toilet at 15" works best for me. I was asked to submit a pic of the product in action but I'll save myself the embarrassment & just show the installed product. Our tiled floor was uneven & I used a few nickels for shims, figured they wouldn't rot away. Hope this helps.

The seat has already been broken (2 adult women using it.) I have to replace it. The people who said you have to hold the handle down longer just to flush, and then it does not remove all of the paper, and the bowl does not fill up like other toilets I have are correct. I did not select this toilet the lousy contractor I paid bought it. It is the cheapest one at Home Depot. I have been told not to use Glacier Bay by other plumbers. Like I said I did not know that was the brand my contractor purchased. Why take the time and resources to build an inferior product that some people have to replace? Home Depot should be more careful whose products they sell. Love Home Depot though.

Our other bathroom has a Glacier Bay toilet (similar to this model) that we had installed years ago, absolutely no problems or complaints. With both toilet installations we did replace the floor gasket & wax ring as well, as we expected the old ones could end up causing a future problem - it is worth it to spend a few dollars now to prevent a future problem with the wax ring or gasket later. Easy installation...my husband installed these toilets himself without a problem. Very happy with this brand.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works You get what you pay for. The seat is really cheap plastic. The water does not wash the front of the bowl. The handle feels like it will come off, and you have to hold it down until the bowl begins to empty before it will continue to flush.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value Toilet Pros: Very good price especially after rebate. Easy to install Cons: Flimsy toilet seat: it flexs and move side to side. It pinch my thigh while sitting and shifting. About 2" taller than my old American Standard. <--this is very important to most folks but I did not know because this is my first toilet replacement. Buyer should plan to buy new hose since the existing hose will be 2" shorter. Overall for the price, it is reasonable if you are on absolute budget. Else I would look for better one just for $20 more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great toilet I almost didn't buy this toilet because some of the negative reviews said it had a weak flush and didn't have water swishing down the front end. All lies. Why do people write lies? They almost cost me hundreds of dollars for a more expensive toliet. Anyway. Nice height All around. Wide bowl. Strong flush. And great price. I had someone else install. Total cost with install and pick up under 200.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not so great the guy who installed it seemed to have no trouble -- it is the way this functions that is such a disappointment. For a child's bath, it should be fine. But for adults, not so great. The flush is not as complete as it should be. The difference is clear to us since we have Delta 1.28 toilets at our cabin and they work just great. No need to use a brush after flushing. It is worth the extra $30.
