Customer Questions & Answers

Would i be able to fill water in this without it leaking?

I am making a very small (6 feet by 2.7 feet) pond and I would like to know if this would be able to hold water for a long period of time.
Asked by: Mike
no. If the pond was less than 4 feet across or deep it would work. You need a solid sheet of plastic to cover the entire hole for that to work correctly.

killing weeds

Hello Cain I use this product to cover my whole backyard to kill all weeds it is like 5000 sq ft? if yes, about how many of this should I buy? thanks
Asked by: caro
While many people do use this product as you have described; this is a construction grade film and has not been tested for such application. Also, this item does not contain any UV inhibitors and will break down if left exposed to the elements for a prolonged period.

Could I put this down and then cover with rubber mulch to use under a children's swing set?

Asked by: Jennifer
yes, could be employed for that purpose but obviously it could collect the rain water.

Would this be good for my flower area I'm building

Asked by: Slink
Hi Slink. Thank you for your question. The Plastic Sheeting is great when used as a drop cloth or a cover to protect items from the elements. It is not so great when used as a liner for your flower bed. The plastic sheeting does not drain. If used to cover your flower bed, it will smother the plants you put there. If used as a base at the bottom of your flower box, you may end-up with a soggy mess unless you put pond or bog plants in your flower bed. You would be better off using a Weed Mat instead. This product will drain well and let air pass thru it. It is great as a liner for your flower box or as a cover to help keep weeds out of your flower bed. I used a weed mat in my flower bed and I am very glad that I did. The weeds are not able to form a tap root. Instead of having weeds 1-2 foot tall, they are about 2 -3 inches tall instead and are very easy to pull out. If you use a pre-emergence on top of your weed mat or over your mulch or bark, you can greatly reduce the amount of weed seeds in your flower garden. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Rick_HD_OC

4 ft. x 50 ft. Black 4 mil Plastic Sheeting is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice service I buy about 40 boxes of this a month. I wish you would stock this in the store. The service of ordering on line is great but it would be more convenient to pick up this item when I do my other shopping there. And I do shop a lot in this store.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good stuff exactly I want Used two layers in my raised flower bed. Good enough to reduce the moisture getting to the wood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed Tried finding plastic sheeting for use in our garden. Raised beds were 4 feet wide. The Home Depot store didn't carry anything suitable, but I found this online. It worked perfectly. Good thickness, unfolded to the four feet width I needed, and two rolls covered the beds we had with extra to spare. Shipping was prompt. Tempted to go ahead and buy ahead for what I'll need next year and the year after that, as I'm afraid if this goes out of stock I'll be left high and dry!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the garden I bought this for my garden to keep the weeds down. It is wide enough that I can cut it in half and it will easily fit between my rows of plants and smother the weeds. It really makes a difference in the amount of time that I spend weeding my garden. This is tough enough that at the end of the growing season I can fold it up and reuse it next year or put to use in some other way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected Used this product to line the sides of my raised garden. While I used it doubled over for extra protection between the wood sides and the dirt a single would have been fine but at this price why skimp? Also used it as a week block and moisture retainer on the top. Tuff stuff, I could not be happier... wonder why it is not carried in store?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT! To Home Depot , please continue to carry this product. Regular landscaping "fabric" does nothing the weeds just pop right thru. Won't happen with the plastic. I wonder if HD sells anchors to hold the plastic to the ground? With black plastic, remember to leave around the base of shrubs uncovered so water can get to the roots.
