How to change the lightbulb?

I bought a house with these installed in the living room. One of the bulbs has gone out and I, for the life of me, can not remove the dead bulb. There isn't enough room between the eyeball and bulb to get a grip and the unit just won't budge from the casing. Anyone have any tips? What am I doing wrong?
Asked by: cander38
Turn off the power at your box and be more aggressive. Sometime bulbs burn into the socket. Its frustrating, but if you want light, you gotta get it out. No magic tricks.

Can this light be used over a bath tub i.e. is it certified for use in wet areas?

Asked by: Betsy
I wouldn't put this one in a shower. Get a light that's meant for wet places. Covered for me.

The bulb needs to be under 2" wide, Is there an equivalant LED spot bulb that fits this? And Dimmable?

Asked by: Mark
I found what I wanted at Home Depot. The first lights slightly protruded past the eyeball trim. I found a shorter LED bulb that dims nicely. I threw away the package, so can't help on who made it. But it's short, fits, lights and dims. They were in the lighting section at HD. Good Luck.

Didn't want to hang view-blocking pendants. I had a little challenge finding the right bulbs. I wanted the bulbs recessed in the socket, not blinding me. Easy connections and easy install. Hey, the Wifey likes the result, so, yeah, I can confidently recommend these.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Didn't last but Halo replaced them w/ improved version I bought three of these to light a closet. After about a year and a half the phenolic resin lamp holder started to fall apart on one of them and the light would sometimes not come on. I bought a new one and realized that the new lamp holder was made out of ceramic which is a material that can withstand a lot more heat. When I looked at the other ones they were showing signs of heat stress as well and didn't look like they would last much longer. Needles to say I was not happy so I sent an email to Halo at the address on the container and told them of my problem and that I would like them to replace the sockets for the lights with the ceramic versions. The said that they didn't have repair parts for them but they would send me whole new ones at no charge. The new ones that arrived had ceramic lamp holders as well. I replaced all three and have not had any problems since. I would not recommend the trim piece unless it has the ceramic lampholder.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wears out quickly Was initially very happy with the look and ease of installation. The eyeball adjusts easily to point where you need the light, and gives great extra light for counter areas, etc. Used halogen 60 watt bulbs, and had to replace the bulbs about 2x per year. Unfortunately, after 4 years the white coating is discolored and peeling, and the light bulb housing is crumbling. For the price I paid (plus the cost of the housing) I expected it to last longer than 4 or 5 years, so gave it a low value rating. And while it looked good when first installed, it sure doesn't look good now. We only used the lights for a few hours a day, during meal prep, so it's not like it was on constantly. Shopping today to replace these!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality, it was like a toy. I was trying to replace an older brass eyeball light with this one in copper. The difference in quality was night and day. The new copper light was thin, flimsy, and poorly made - the metal bends easily and the finish is poor quality. The ridiculous clamps don't work right and don't hold the light in place without gaps. Installation was difficult as we had to drill screws into the shade to keep it from falling out - it should have had screws and screw holes in the first place. Definitely not worth the price.
