How to change the lightbulb?

I bought a house with these installed in the living room. One of the bulbs has gone out and I, for the life of me, can not remove the dead bulb. There isn't enough room between the eyeball and bulb to get a grip and the unit just won't budge from the casing. Anyone have any tips? What am I doing wrong?

The duct tape trick worked! As a final act of desperation I made a duct tape handle attached to the face of the bulb and twisted counter clockwise. It worked. I did not have to remove the fixture from the ceiling (which I also did). I could not find a picture or illustration anywhere on the internet. The bulb IS a screw bulb (not posts).

can this light fixture be installed without major drywall work?

Can this recessed adjustable eyeball fixture be installed thru the round size of the trim package or do I need complete removal of ceiling drywall in the immediate area to install and support this model light?
Asked by: joemung
This is only a "trim ring" which fits an existing can light fixture. This simply holds the bulb and the ring provides the finished look.

Does this light come with a light bulb socket

Does this light come with a light bulb socket?
Asked by: Irish
No, this is only a trim ring to go in an existing can light fixture which should have the pig-tail light socket in it already.

How do these work? I have 6" halo housings and I don't see how the "eyeball" is adjustable once the bulb is in the can?

I examined these in the store. If the light bulb is fixed, how can you possibly move the "eyeball" part to aim the light? Mine are for new construction so I want to make sure I know exactly what I am getting. To me, it looks like the eyeball part may only move a couple of millimeters, not actually like the pictures depict. Anyone have any experience with these?
Asked by: Byron
The bulb socket is on a pig-tail wiring harness inside your can fixture. The socket has two metal spring clips that snap into the eyeball (slots are visible at the base of the bulb area). Then you simply attach and insert the eyeball trim into your fixture. I'd say it rotates over 90 degrees.

4 in. Tuscan Bronze Recessed Lighting Adjustable Eyeball Trim is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A choice Works for the kitchen plan. Technically is 360 degrees, where 180 happens until you spin or twist the shade slightly to get the other half of angle/s. It's spot-like unless you use a few in a row about 2-3ft apart ... then pow! Really bright lights ... need to use the right dimmer to get right mood.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Didn't last but Halo replaced them w/ improved version I bought three of these to light a closet. After about a year and a half the phenolic resin lamp holder started to fall apart on one of them and the light would sometimes not come on. I bought a new one and realized that the new lamp holder was made out of ceramic which is a material that can withstand a lot more heat. When I looked at the other ones they were showing signs of heat stress as well and didn't look like they would last much longer. Needles to say I was not happy so I sent an email to Halo at the address on the container and told them of my problem and that I would like them to replace the sockets for the lights with the ceramic versions. The said that they didn't have repair parts for them but they would send me whole new ones at no charge. The new ones that arrived had ceramic lamp holders as well. I replaced all three and have not had any problems since. I would not recommend the trim piece unless it has the ceramic lampholder.
