Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Slappy White globe (not amber swirled) until it is lit
The glass globe is actually flat white on the outside, amber swirl on the inside and it only appears as an amber swirl if it is lit. Unfortunately, this is not what's pictured online or on the box. If you expected to see an amber globe during the day, what you actually get is a flat white globe (it almost looks painted). Really poor advertising/packaging - very misleading.

Installed easily and effectively on a decade old Hampton Bay ceiling fan on a renovation job. With the dark amber shade it does not allow much light to emit. Would have purchased a white shade had I known this in advance.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Willie85 Bought one, then another
Every time I looked at our old style ceiling fan lights it would drive me nuts. Unattractive, and bad glaring light. Found this fixture at HD and the improvement is amazing, so I replaced a second identical fixture with another one of these. Wish I'd found these sooner! Installation was not difficult, but not for beginners, either. The instructions were easy to follow. Good value for the price.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by MR56 Easy to attach to fan, but wobbles
It was relatively easy to install the light kit and cover. however, the cover wobbles when you turn the light or fan on and off.

I bought this on clearance for just over $10; I think I know why they were on clearance. This is a very well-made and nice-looking light kit that can use standard A19 LED or CFL bulbs. However, the very attractive glass is just too amber, really muting the light output, virtually defeating the purpose of adding a light kit. My wife was able to find a frosted white bowl for <$15, and now the white light output with 2 800 lumen (60W EQ) LED bulbs is excellent.

This was a replacement for an old Hampton Bay fan light. I used a cover from the old light because it is not a standard size and it is hidden anyway. The 2 bulb sockets are standard size for screw in lamps. It comes with two 800 lumen CFLs. The shade is a white glass with a heavy tea colored streaked stain. This looks nice but greatly reduces the light output.
I replaced the CFLs with LED bulbs that are also 13 watt units but put out 1100 lumens each. Because the bulbs are bigger in size I had to adjust the tubular screw that holds the shade down about a half inch but it is secure. Now the room is adequately lit.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HDGuinesPig easy to install and beautiful
I have no experience in electrical at all but the light fixture was simple to install. It worked perfectly. I'd purchased an older home and it had a light but no switch so I needed something with a chain control, this was nearly impossible to find, so it was nice that I could use it as a flush mount and not with a ceiling fan.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tex75 Easy install.
Bought this to replace an existing ceiling fan light that I didn't like. Instructions were easy to follow. Although it seems like a waste to have spare parts, it's nice to have 4 different finishes for the metals parts all in one box. Despite containing 2 60 watt equivalent cfls, it doesn't seem very bright. Most of the light is directed towards the ceiling. The glass shade, and the reason I didn't give 5 stars, is solid white when the light is off; almost light flat white spray paint. The shade only shows the warm color and pattern if the light is on. When I saw the white shade I almost took it back to the store thinking there was a mistake. I have 2 other lights in the house of similar style and their shades show the same color and marbled look on or off. Head scratcher.
