Answer: 
Yes, you will need a 5/8" wide hole for the push button in order for it to fit flush against the wall or door trim.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful classic design This was to match other items at entry way, ie, mailbox, and light. Halo lighted design is nice touch. The existing hole was a little tight for this button, and the wires were very short and stiff. I broke the first one trying to get it back out of the hole, but learned from my mistakes and exchanged without problem. Now it is installed and working perfectly. May 15, 2012
