what is the coverage on 0.90 gal.

Asked by: jim
In my case the coverage was about exactly what they say if it is applied with the 3 knot brush. If you use a 4" brush then the application goes a bit further.

I have a 16' 1973 camper trailer with an aluminum roof. Is this Aluminum roof coating the best or the 887 Tropicool best for that roof? It does not have any leaks. Do you think 1 gallon will be sufficient? What preparation needs to be taken? Also, I am going to remove all the old 'caulk' and put on new stuff appropriate for this unit. Is it best to remove old stuff, paint the roof and then recaulk? OR do I recaulk everything and then paint. Thanks!
Asked by: Joyce
The best product would be our Henry 887HS Tropi-Cool 100% Silicone Roof Coating. It's the only one formulated for campers to endure all the movement on the road. I don't know the square footage of your camper, so it would be hard for me to tell you if a gal would be enough. I can tell you that you can about 66 sq ft per gal. Most campers I come across need at least 1-5 gal bucket. We have all the prep instructions on the label and on our website. You are on the right track with removing all the old caulk. The more old caulk and coating your can remove the better. Also, if you have any really dirty spots, you may want to use TSP to help clean. I would recommend removing the old stuff, then re-caulking, then finally coat the roof. If you miss a spot, our Henry 884 Tropi-Cool Sealant will bond to the coating after the fact. Is this the best product to use where there is some ponding?

Over Henry 201
Asked by: Ronnie
The best product to use over ponding water is our Henry 887HS Tropi-Cool 100% Silicone Roof Coating. This waterproofs and reflects UV rays while offering a Lifetime Warranty. The next best option (and if you're looking for an aluminum coating) would be our Henry 869 Rubberized Aluminum Coating. This can withstand ponding water for the life of the product and reflect UV rays (not as much as Henry 887HS, but more than Henry 555) while offering a 12 year Warranty. About a week after I sealed the roof I was camping and was rained on for about 40 hours straight.....yes 40!!! Not a leak or drip anywhere. I did this in the Fall and am going to apply another coat in the spring. I used a 4" brush for application which I will not do again....just too hard on the knees. However it did work out very well. Next time I will use the 3 Knot Brush and a 4" brush to go around the edges. Should go a lot quicker as well. Product coverage is pretty close to what they say it is and the price is very reasonable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Application! Used this on our galvinised metal storage shed roof. Got two coats from one can. ( roof apx. 70 sq. ft.) Dry in less than one hour, covers and seals well. Used old four inch paint brush for application; cleanup was easy, trashed the brush. Just make sure the surface is clean and dry. Quick tip--before leaving the store go by the paint department and have them put it thru their shaker; saves stirring it on site.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pete I bought this product because we had a leak in one spot on our roof. After a few days, the roof stopped leaking. See that it worked, I went back to get 30 gallons and did our entire roof with it. We have a flat roof with a slight pitch. It's been five years now and our roof never leaked again. I am very glad that this coating is a lot easier to apply than others I have tried and it hasn't failed me yet. I am going to put another coating of this on my roof again next week and beat the winter season. It is well worth the price, for something that really works. Thank you very much. Pete, in upper NY state.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Henry 555 Roof Coating Henry's 555 is great for protecting roofs such as torchdown. The aluminum in the coat reflects the sunlight and helps reduce the heat on the roof. I roll my roof about every 5 years and it keeps the UV from damaging my roof. The aluminum flake is key to good performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really good stuff! Honestly, I was slightly skeptical as to the hype surrounding this product. We have an old rolled metal roof off the kitchen, which has sustained a lot of abuse from an upper slate roof that is on the main portion of our home... We live in northern Maine and every snow storm the snow from our main slate roof slides off on the lower metal roof above our kitchen. No doubt after years of this, the seams in the metal roof have started to give a little. This summer we have had a little water come in our kitchen ceiling. Luckily, we can walk right out a bedroom window onto the kitchen roof. After inspecting the metal roof, I noticed a lot of the old seams where degrading. The roof is probably 18'x7'. I started by brushing on a heavy layer onto all the seams. After that, I simply "rolled" the rest of the roof. This stuff is really like liquid metal. It took me about 1.5 hours for 1 coat. After 2 days we got some rain... NO LEAKS AT ALL! Plus, the rook looks almost brand new! The original color was black, from previous owners using an asphalt type sealer on the roof in the past, now it is a silver aluminum color. Very attractive. I have another gallon that I will put a 2nd coat on before winter hits. The only drawback, this stuff does stink.
