For subtle elegance in your home, the Heritage Mill Cork flooring combines the beauty and durability of a natural and truly renewable material with the comfort of a cushioned, warm and silent surface. Featured in a slate brown color, this flooring incorporates a new and beveled plank format that creates a more appealing and elegant look than traditional cork floors that are made in large panels. This floor features an integrated underlayment made out of cork. Cork flooring is anti-microbial, fire and moisture resistant and provides unrivalled noise reduction properties. Installation is made easy with the precision milled glueless locking system. Prefinished cork requires no additional sealing after installation.

Customer Questions & Answers

Is the pattern of the Burnished Straw Plank Cork planks printed on or are they the natural bark grain?

Asked by: Anonymous
Definitely natural bark grain and texture.

can cork flooring be used in a bathroom?

Asked by: Anonymous
The cork itself handles moisture well, but I would only install it if I thought I could prevent moisture from getting under the flooring and causing mold or rot. With a good toilet seal, good bathroom ventilation, and an eye toward leaving as much water as possible in the tub or shower, I'd say yes.

Can this cork flooring be put down over an existing linoleum kitchen floor and if so should I put down barrier sheet over linoleum?

Asked by: Anonymous
Probably, but consult the flooring manufacturer to be sure, and follow any recommendations they may have. When in doubt, ALWAYS check first.

vapor barrier really needed?

I plan to replace family room carpet with this cork flooring. Currently pad and carpet over slab, no vapor barrier. No issues with moisture, floor is fine. Do I really need vapor barrier as recommended under this flooring?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, a minimum 6 milimeter polyethylene sheeting is required under all floors being installed over concrete slabs. Carpet/pad will let vapor pass through freely; hardwood and cork floors will hold moisture eminating from the slab, resulting in swelling, buckling, etc. Failure to install a proper vapor barrier will void warranty coverage on the product.

As has been noted by all of the displeased reviewers, the urethane coat and the underlying colored layer are very thin and wear off very easily. Plus, the cork itself is much lighter than the dark coloring of the stain, so all scuffs and scratches stand out. After 2 years in a trafficked area, almost every board has these scuff marks. The butt ends of the planks especially are liable to be scuffed off at the edge, as the snap-together notches and grooves are often imperfect and sit together slightly off-level. The manufacturer's recommendation to color scuffs with a stain marker looks like what you'd expect - like you wrote on the floor with a marker. Pro: The floors are great looking out of the box. The color is beautiful. Con: Using this product as flooring that you might actually walk on causes conspicuous scuff marks and scratches.

This was not a not a minor lot variation. Was trying to match an existing installation of the same product. Tried to contact manufacturer to see if color formulation was changed but got no response. Home Depot professional in flooring was totally useless. See photo for color variation. Plank on the right was from previous installation and is a close match to the stock photo. The plank on the left is what was delivered (and it was labeled as Burnished Straw, so not a case of wrong product being sent).

It feels soft under foot compared to my laminate flooring in other rooms. It also feels warmer than the laminate as well. One thing though, with the whole room covered, it looks a bit darker than when looking at a small sample. Installation was easy, and cutting with a circular saw turned out fine - no chipping on the finished side. I cut from the bottom. I did tape up the cut line of the finished side to avoid chipping, but a couple of times I forgot the tape and still had no problems. I only wished the planks were larger as it would have made for a faster install. The only negative was a number of damaged pieces. It was mostly the flat edge on the groove side. A few corners were busted and a few were busted on the center of this edge. I was able to salvage them and use on the ends. These boards already have a 1/8 thick cork underlayment attached to the bottom, but I also laid down an additional 1/8 thick cork as underlayment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Spiceberry cork flooring Went down easily, looks beautiful. The color is rich and makes the room very cozy. Nice & soft underfoot but does not gouge or scratch. Plank design is new for cork, very updated. One thing to know, it shows the dust, dirt & animal hair. Got to be swept frequently.
