Where can I order or purchase a replacement button for the cutting head or just purchase a new cutting head for Hitachi CG 22EAB (SLP)

Any suggestions for a replacement bump spool?

Seems to be the one weak spot with this trimmer according to comments... just wondered if anyone has found a better one... and if so, which brand/model?

Customer Reviews

21 cc Curved Shaft Trimmer with Tap and Go Head is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good machine, so far. No regrets purchasing it. Had two low-end trimmers in the last two years; both went to the thrift shop. Found this one, read the reviews and immediately ordered it. With free shipping and a 7-year warranty it was an awesome deal. Starts easily, and a good feature is the string head automatically feeds and it doesn't turn while it's at idle when you lay it on the ground. Okay, that was two good features, but who's counting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent performance for the price I'm a 5'2" woman in her late 60s, and this trimmer is a breeze for me to use. It's lightweight, well balanced and has minimal vibration, but it's also powerful enough to cut through the tough weeds and scrub in my Southwest yard with ease - and I have a large, rough yard with rocks and elevation changes that make a lawnmower impossible to use. The recoil is easy and catches on the first or second pull, unlike my Stihl that had me cussing almost every time I used it. This Hitachi does use a fair amount of fuel, though, so be prepared. This unit did not want to start out of the box even when I meticulously followed the instruction booklet, so I let it rest for awhile and then slowly and gently pulled the recoil 7 or 8 times to introduce a little air into the system without flooding the motor, then opened the choke halfway. Boom. Started on the first pull and has done so ever since using the manufacturer's recommended modality. I've had it for a month now and have used it for at least 20 hours. Based on the reviews here, I look forward to using it for a long time to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great light weight trimmer I've owned about 5 diff. brands and this one exceeds my expections. Love how lightweight it is. NOTE: You need to mount the grass shield below the bracket (different than instructed) to avoid grass blowback. Plenty power and longer length is helpful for a taller guy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great investment! I've never owner a trimmer that is this powerful and easy to start. I ordered this trimmer on line after reading Consumer Reports and not able to purchase locally. After easily starting and warming up, this "mini-mite" really performs well. I believe that the two line system offers more RPM's than a single line alternative. The unit is well balanced and is not as loud as my previous Weed-eater brand unit. Be sure to wear long pants and eye protection as this unit will make the debris fly! I'm looking forward to years of use with this tool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good I've only used this one day at 2 houses but it worked great. It is light enough for me to use and started up right away. The yard was pretty overgrown and had some real heavy brush and it had no problem going through it. Didn't go through string on both yards and only topped off the fuel after the first yard which was only a small lot. The second was a large piece of land and I stopped because I was tired, not because I ran out of fuel or string, so I would have to say my only complaint is it holds too much fuel and string as I usually go for one tank of fuel! Ha! And not having to change string half way through, well that is different.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Trimmer in 40 years Easiest starting trimmer I've had in 40 yrs. and the best thing is the trimmer string actually does advance. Have had this over a year now, never once had to stop to feed the string by hand. It is light weight, easy to handle, does not stall out no matter how you hold it. Low vibration and easy to control. I was very skeptical buying a Hitachi but since then I've purchase a gas blower and it operates like a charm. These are the easiest starting lawn products I've ever had. Use proper gas (octane) and you should have no problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bang for the Buck Ordered online and received it quickly. Bought higher quality string which seems to be very effective. It is lightweight, plenty powerful, quiet enough, and works as advertised. I thought I'd want a shoulder strap, but the unit is light enough not to bother. My yard is large, but the amount of weed wacking is minimal so I opted for a gas trimmer vs electric (battery or corded). I expect to have this for many years. One thing to note: the sound it makes is typical 2 stroke, but the tone is very tolerable. Our neighbor has one that is high pitched and extremely annoying. this one is not.
